should check into using brushes with photoshop.
you can download them (legal ofcourse) off tones of sites, deviantart being the best.

Near the top left hand croner, should be a drop down menu>catergories>resources>apps resources>photoshop brushes.
most of them are for PS 7 and CS, so just make sure you d/l the right brush for your version.

cool. pretty easy to use...but if you get stuck there is tons of tutorials that help with brushes.
