Now that the rules has changed, I trust Bellyache and Co. to pull another rabbit out of the hat.Hailstorm wrote: Now that they've altered the rule interpretation and made it more open, my concern is its gonna cost us a hell of a lot. I hope i am wrong but i can see us being penailsed out of the game and out of the finals over this issue.
Apparently we've got one of the best wrestling coach as an advisor and I believe we can employ a different technique to our defence.

I understand where you are coming from S2V however it cannot be expected that we turn this around in 5 days, or a month. If they've been used to tackling a certain way and are then gonna be questioning every tackle they each make because of the new rule interpretation, its bound to affect their game and the way they play it. Tackling technique cannot be changed just like that.STORM*2*VICTORY wrote:Now that the rules has changed, I trust Bellyache and Co. to pull another rabbit out of the hat.Hailstorm wrote: Now that they've altered the rule interpretation and made it more open, my concern is its gonna cost us a hell of a lot. I know what you mean Hailstorm. Changing tackling techniques is probably easier said than done.
I just hope the refs don't go trigger happy with these new interpretations.
This whole saga, reminds me of Wayno whinging about Jarrod Haynes' dive and then during the same game, one of their own (IIRC it was Berrigan) did the same thing to.

I and along with most, if not all Storm supporters am sick to death of the mud that continues to be thrown at our club on this grapple issue.
Civoniceva and Bennet blast Storm after playing us on the weekend and then this article surfaces this morning.
http://www.leaguehq.com.au/news/news/br ... 11548.html
In the article when it was pointed out that on two occassions Civoniceva had been involved in his own grapple tackle, it is says "When told about the examples, Civoniceva said: "Fair enough if we did it, but as I said I'm not pointing the finger at any particular team. " I'm sorry Petero but yes you were pointing the finger at a particular team. Everyone points their fingers at Storm, sometimes before we've even played the team (refer link below).

Whilst every team is guilty of doing it to some extent, the problem thats now becoming more and more obvious is that the ref's are going into a game with preconceived ideas that Storm are the problem and will be penalising us for anything that closely resembles a "grapple." The problem with this as i see it, for one thing i fear they won't be consistant with their focus across the board with every team, and as i said in a post above, i also fear that this is gonna cost us in the games to come, and possibly a premiership.
I'm not saying we don't do it (the grapple) as its been clearly pointed out that we do. But why is the focus on us all the time when its been shown in the past, up until recently, virtually every other team in the league had been penalised for it more than Storm had. Are people that scared of us making consecutive Grand Finals and possibly bringing the trophy back to Victoria? The issue certainly seems to pop up to put us off our game. As someone has pointed out (not sure if its on this forum or another), its only the teams that we defeat that complain. We didn't hear the Roosters complain about it did we?
Rant over... (sorry guys).
Edit: I know i said rant over. I just wanted to add this article from todays Herald Sun. Nice to see some support.

Well said Hailstorm. Can I make a suggestion that you email that post to -
the Broncos
the Courier Mail
the Herald Sun
Foxsports
What the hell ... condense it a bit (ok a lot) and put it on this week's banner.
I read on another forum that Waldron and Bellamy are holding a press conference about this right now. Nothing on Fox Sports News as yet.
Was originally scheduled for 2:30pm but was pushed back to 3:30pm.

I hope it's Waldo and Bellyache standing in a pit with 15 stones and a sign simply saying, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone"Surandy wrote: I read on another forum that Waldron and Bellamy are holding a press conference about this right now. Nothing on Fox Sports News as yet.

Good move,we needed to come out & defend ourselves.Surandy wrote: I read on another forum that Waldron and Bellamy are holding a press conference about this right now. Nothing on Fox Sports News as yet.

Fox Sports News didn't show much, they previewed the interview by showing Inglis and Cross doing grapple tackles against the Broncos (no other footage shown) and then a brief bit of Bellamy basically saying that footage of Broncos and Eels show we do it no more than anyone else so people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones and Waldron, with controlled anger in his voice, said that he's had enough and that we've got a premiership to win here.
I am sure there was a lot more to it than that but FSN didn't show much more than that.
Ch10 news had a bit more including footage of other players doing grapple tackles, ie Sharks, Eels & Broncos. I think the issue of the Eels doing them being raised was to make sure if the refs do crack down during the Storm game that they are not just focusing on us. Which was Bellamy and Waldron's main complaint in the press conference.
The Storm should put the full footage on their website or somewhere else and provide a link on their site so supporters get the full story.
