My First Ever.... Storm Away Game
Same as previously, what was your first every Storm away game?
Mine was travelling with the MSSC on the bus to Newcastle, for the first round of the finals in 2000. I was rooming with Manassa (Bai Stand fame). We got to the ground and I was thrilled to be asked by the Banner God to help out with the poling, then putting the banner up on the ground. The saddest part was when the rain started falling as we finished taping the banner to the poles. The proudest part was when we walked the banner onto the field, and despite the banner disintegrating, the feeling of putting the banner up despite the jeers of the locals.
Also have a vague memory of singing "I'm singing in the rain" on the hill at half time. Despite the result, a great trip. Also unfortunately the start of a losing streak of away games which didn't end until later this year!

Rd 23 1998 ... last ever game at Belmore Stadium (or Belmore swimming complex as the pouring rain had turned it into) and I still can't believe it was 7 years ago, feels like yesterday *reminices*
I can still see in my mind Craig Polla-Mounter sliding from the 10m line all the way to the try line. I can also tell you that Tawera Nikau scored the Storm's only points that night, while I'd struggle to rattle off the scorers in more recent games I have seen.

Canberra Round 26 2002. Trip made courtesy of the MSSC bus. I've only missed one Canberra game since.
Unfortunately Storm lost that game (my first away trip) which meant we missed the finals for that year.

I was at that game!! On the Big Screen side! This bloke was giving Rodney Howe a deadset bashing of words, he got to do it a thousand times azwell because Howe had to take his position after Melbourne scored there tries, plenty of em too. My highlight was the Ben Roarty fight, and all the tries ofcourse.
"Better to have Won then Lost, than to have never won at all" Arrogant, but true hahahaha

I was at that game Buzz! I remember that day very well, i have photos as well. And yes we did all start singing "I'm singing in the rain" at half time. I also remember everyone ripping off newcastle's chant of "NEW-CAS-TLE" and turning it into "YOU-ASS-HOLES!" i remember it taking the locals a while to figure out what we were actually saying It definately was a great day despite the result.Buzz wrote:Same as previously, what was your first every Storm away game?

My first Storm game was in 1998 in the Finals. The Storm were playing the Broncos at Aussie Stadium, but that was a final game and not really an away game i suppose. The first away game of the regular season that i went to would have been in 1999 Storm V Knights at Energy Australia. I remember that we took a banner and were told by security that we could not hold it up at all - we did anyway. We got stuck with some drunk (we could not get rid of him) who thought the Knights were playing the Sharks because Tawera Nikau was playing, he couldn't get it into his head that Tawera was playing for the Storm and not the Sharks anymore LOL. It was a pretty good night despite the result

Round 16 1999. Cronulla Vs Melbourne at Shark Park (Now Toyota Stadium)
Went on the MSSC bus with Scott and Gina and met my brother (Younge) up in Sydney. We got off to a 16-2 lead at half time with the help of the gale at our backs. Cronulla then got in front 18-16 with 20 minutes to go and with the howling breeze behind them. We somehow managed to hold them out on our own line, then race down the other end thanks to an Aaron Moule break, which lead to Stephen Kearney plunging over in the corner two rucks later. Then a vintage Kearney offload to Robbie Ross sealed it. Apart from the Grand Final, it's the best game I've been to. Younge and I got on TV
It was also great to see some of the same faces from that trip this year when I went to the final
