Little article on zero tackle saying we've asked for Sims again this year and they've said no. Days we were also considering going for Lodge. Not sure I believe that given we've worked with him before.
Also said we'd consider Eels' Nathan Brown. Thoughts on this?

For the right price, brown wouldn't be the worst pick up. Was an origin player not that long ago and seems to be a run hard and straight typeLucas wrote: ↑Fri Jul 15, 2022 8:22 pm Little article on zero tackle saying we've asked for Sims again this year and they've said no. He seems like the kind of player that usually does well when they come to Melbourne. Probably the biggest hurdle would be that he's trying to sure up his future, and I don't see us handing him a long contract straight off.
But if he's serious about his future, he'd have nothing to lose by coming down and playing his heart out for rhe rest of the year with a view to getting a 2 year deal with potentially a 3rd year as a club option.
A pack consisting of brown, Welch, tui, nas, sims, moeroa, king and howarth next year looks pretty respectable. Probably need another couple of young up and comers added for depth and future planning

Those two would be a start. But agree, we need more depth and a bit more long term planning. I guess we weren't expecting to lose guys like tino and pene, which didn't help.
Guess it shows just how fine the line is between having solid depth and losing guys because they feel they're being held back or don't have an obvious path to a regular nrl spot.
To rant a little. Adding a 17th and 18th team will well that situation oh so much......not.
