Completely agree. Hunt cost them the game IMHO when he kicked the ball out on the 4th tackle for a 7-tackle set while NSW were down a player.yourhero wrote:After that effort, Hunt runs serious risk of having his Origin card stamped, “never to play again”. He can catch up with DCE for a beer and watch future games.
Atrocious game from Hunt. Absolutely atrocious. Virtually everything he touched, turned to mud.
I seriously doubt they will bring in Taylor though. Great young player but prone to his own deficiencies.
My immediate (over)reaction is that Hunt will be the new Pearce in never experiencing an Origin series win while playing at HB.
The third tackle kick cost them the game. It got NSW out of their end when QLD were attacking a 12 man NSW defensive line. Inexcusable.
Dropping the shoulder into Cordner for the penalty try.
As the halfback, you don’t direct play down Roberts channel whilst he is in the bin???
On top of that, 2 crucial errors and 1 penalty conceded.

The penalty try, which I think was a fair call was dumb, but actually a better result for Qld than if they just ruled penalty. Cordner would have scored, so in the end, there was no additional penalty, whereas would have been down to 12 men if they didn't rule try.
His kick on the third tackle was the game clincher... and don't forget the disgraceful 'arms tackle attempt' when Fox scored the first one. Gagai should have got him too, but Hunt's "effort" was atrocious.
He was up there with Hayne for Fiji as worst half of the weekend

Hunt’s defensive efforts were there to see in Game 1. Munster is at marker (only 1), NSW get a quick play theball. Munster has to retreat to the defensive line and plug the gap between the A defenders... Tedesco jumps out from DH and Hunt sits back and watches him. Lazy attempt to 1. Provide cover from the inside and 2. Arm grabbing at its finest.
Yes, Munster should have got him, even whilst retreating... but Hunt’s efforts were piss poor and undermine the “do your job for your mates” culture that the QLD jersey is steeped in.

Queensland just had to hold on to the ball. Even if they had turned it over on downs, very deep near their try line. NSW would have still been on the back foot to get it out instead of starting on the 20 with 7 tackles.yourhero wrote:The third tackle kick cost them the game. Amazing stupidity from Hunt.
I'm now thinking Cameron Munster was right to belt him up.
It was such a pointless, unnecessary gamble though. Even if the kick was weighted well, NSW defenders had it well covered and our chase were seemingly not ready for it.blazza18 wrote:The execution on kick was poor but with Tedesco defending up in the line it wasn't the worst idea. It was a very Ben Hunt result tbh.
Attacking a defensive line a man short, kicking early should never be used unless you are near certain of getting a result.
First NSW try came from Chambers running in.Deadpool wrote:I’ve heard a lot of people complaining about Chambers, but I thought he was good. Sure he had the bad kick at the end of the game but that’s it. He constantly got to the outside of Latrell. Got a try and a try assist, and should have had another assist. Ran over 100m. What more could you ask for?
Twice ran his winger out of space and then passed to put him under massive pressure - one dropped ball, one into touch.
Dumb f#&! kick early in the count and went dead.
Out of position and had to come in late meant Latrell ran over him to score.
To be fair though, he wasn't near the liability that Hunt was.
We must all hang together or, most assuredly, we shall all hang separately
It's a repeat set at worst if the kick is on target.yourhero wrote:It was such a pointless, unnecessary gamble though. Glasby and Finucane should play. I have not heard anything re Brandon Smith's thumb since game day, but there must be a question mark over him.Lucas wrote:Do we have any money in the cap this year? Might need to go buy a prop.
8 Welch
9 Smith
10 Kenny
11 Hoffy
12 Felise?
13 Stimson
14 Brandon
15 Pat Kaufusi
16 Timm?
17 Geraghty?
Assuming Glasby and NAS don't play.
So perhaps
8. Welch
9 Smith
10 Glasby
11. Felisep
12. Stimson
13. Finucane
14. Hughes
15. Pat K or Tui K
16. Kenny
17 Hoffy
At least Wairea Hargraves is on the Tarmac with NAS. Cordner would have to be a big doubt too.
