Disagree. Im not saying give out silly contracts like Haas, but for me the priority is to stop the forward pack getting dominated like they have been this season. Christian might take a while to get back to his best as an ACL can take over a year to be fully 100%, so with cheese gone who can guarantee us good metres apart from Nas? We are going to be pretty inexperienced in the edge forwards after years of stability there.Lucas wrote: ↑Wed Aug 17, 2022 9:08 pmYeah, nah.big_m wrote: ↑Wed Aug 17, 2022 8:56 pm I cant see any way that munster stays. He will go for well over a million a year whether its dolphins or elsewhere, and we just cant fit that in the cap.
We need to hope that Paps can hold up for a full season next year and maybe even get meaney in the halves.
If its correct that we have offered Munster between 800 and 900 to stay and he leaves, id really like us to use that money to sign a top front rower.
Imagine welch and another top prop starting, with Nas, Tui, Tepai coming on against tired bodies.
We become the Broncos of 2019-21 if we do that, by putting too many eggs in the forwards basket whilst relying on substandard halves. If Munster leaves, we need to replace him with a good half.
Going back to the 2020 gf, we had Welch, Tino, Jesse in better form, Finucane, Cheese and Nas. Huge difference to where we are now.

Does anyone know who is currently receiving the veteran player allowance? It's close to 200k and Munster would be about the only bloke left come next season that would meet the requirements for it.
Can't really wrap my head around the mechanics of Bromwich being on a million. And even being the club's best ever forward hopefully we're not in a position again where an ageing front rower is on anything close to that. Like the outlook of this current team would be a lot different if we made the decision to not do that and offered more to Tino instead.
You need to see the full contracts to form a view on how good they are. Lots of players are on unders for first few years then big last year to make up for it.
Still dissapointed we didnt keep Tino - future qld captain. Gold coast signed him in 2019 after only 5 bench appearances but the potential was clearly there. He moved for 650k a year which doesnt seem a lot for a talent like that - we have howarth on 500k this year without playing a game.

Maybe Howarth on $500k is the Storm learning from our mistakes.big_m wrote: ↑Thu Aug 18, 2022 6:52 pm You need to see the full contracts to form a view on how good they are. Lots of players are on unders for first few years then big last year to make up for it.

Tino was a great move by the Titans.
I don’t think the Storm thought he would leave, would have matched the Titans offer but didn’t have the cap at all.

Fair dues to him, Tino always wanted to go home. There was no way we were ever going to retain him for his whole career. And he left for less than he could have got elsewhere.big_m wrote: ↑Thu Aug 18, 2022 6:52 pm Still dissapointed we didnt keep Tino - future qld captain. We must all hang together or, most assuredly, we shall all hang separately

I’d like the Club to be into Dylan Brown as an option. Would be a decent player next to Hughes imo and even if he doesn’t want really leave Parra……to at least drive up the cost for Parramatta to keep him

Of course it goes without saying that my 100% preference is for Munny to stay and finish his career as a one club player and hopefully with another couple of premierships.Storm Spirit wrote: ↑Sun Aug 21, 2022 11:25 amI’d like the Club to be into Dylan Brown as an option.
