The sad thing for Kangas fans is that many will see this and weeks 1 results as justification of their decisions to not tip or push the kangas bandwagon. To have two thumpings in three finals games is not the best look for a top 4 finishing team.

I would have loved North to get into the GF,purely for Archer. He was just football perfection in his heyday and it would of been even more icing on the cake for him.
Its all fun and games til someone gets kicked in the head...

I would of too, only if Geelong weren't the opposition.  No other team would of beaten them that day.

At least Archie retires with 2 Grand Final medals.

Very happy we have got Sam Power, let's just hope he can show as much as his brother.

long as they keep their cool and tell the AFL to get stuffed in relocating. Looks like at least next season only 2 home games are the same weekends as storm ones so i may get a membership again

Yeah the AFL are certainly trying to push their weight around on this issue arent they. Fancy bloody threatening them with if you dont go - then we are going to bring a 17th team into the competition.

If there are already teams struggling how on earth would they expect a 17th team to survive coming into such a thriving comp is beyond me.  But I guess we will see wont we.

A 17th team on the Gold Coast will mean that a 18th team in Western Sydney will be here before 2010. Which explains why Sydney has already come out against a 17th team.

There are a few problems with the Kangas and the Gold Coast. Firstly, the Kangas changed their name. They may be legally the North Melbourne Football Club, but they changed their marketing to Northern Kangaroos. Perhaps in the bid to increase their potential appeal to the northern suburbs. But it's opened them up to a whole new "northern" market. Then they sold their homegames to firstly Canberra, and now the Gold Coast. They created the pressure.

But the real cause is the lack of member support. So many Kangas fans, so few members. It's ironic that a team that finished in 4th spot has perhaps the lowest AFL club membership in Melbourne. Even Victory was spouting that they had more members than the Kangaroos. Even clubs like Carlton in the darkest years have had record memberships.

There's only one way to save Kangas moving north - and that's member action. And the reality is it won't happen. I even looked at the membership packages on offer from the Kangas this morning - I was considering joining up just to help them stay. But it won't make a difference. The AFL (Demetrispew) will get their way in the end.

North's biggest problem was not grabbing the bull by the horns and relocating to Canberra a few years ago and IMO it will cost the AFL the ability to take a real strong hold the Canberra market now.

North supporters and members didn't have a problem traveling up to Canberra for home games and when the talk of them moving away from game in Canberra surfaced so did interest from North supporters in traveling up there. When 'Ops' Devlin who has been round the club since the early 70's and is from the old school of shinboners says 'we need to cement ourselves in Canberra to survive' then people I would have thought at the club would have listen.

North hasn't had a future in Melbourne for a long time and most of the real supporters have known it and while not totally happy with relocating would have been happy with a Canberra move than a Gold Coast move.

The AFL is showing signs of the NRL in not really focusing on increasing there market where they can. The NRL should have suggested to Western Suburbs to relocate to Perth years before the merger, that way the club would have had two supporters basis (Perth and Sydney) and been able to trade on it's own, but it was an opportunity lost. The AFL I think is doing the same thing, North to Canberra and Hawthorn to Tassie would grow their support market no end and help both clubs increase members and finances.

at the end of the day its going to kill us moving but we will die if we stay,  It will be a sad day if my team becomes extinct cause I dont think a gold coast team will survive if the NRl cant make it work there what chance does the afl have.  we wil stay afloat for a while but eventully the axe will fall over there.  if the 17th team comes in in wont get off the ground they wont be able to attract the stars to give the fans something to watch.

I am very concerned over our future and would rather see us merge like we should of with fitzroy then see us relocate on our own.

I got my 2008 membership package today but I seem to have misplaced the card that told me where I could pick up the cap.
Can anyone tell me what the deal was or will I have to ring the club?

I have a five game membership because that would be the maximum number of games I will get too (more like three unless the NRL has a good draw)
There is a non-attending membership as well.
