Torino Opening Ceremony
I hope I wasn't the only one on here that watched it, did anyone else notice that Jamaica wasn't in the parade of nations and they do have a team at the games I checked and I'll give you one guess what sport.

I'll bet you probably the only one on here who watched it and I have heard enough about, to quote the other forum, "The Car Crash that was the Winter Games Opening Cermony" to be content with my decison not to watch it.

5:30am!!! The only thing I get up at that time to watch is rugby league and formula one!jellyhead wrote:LOL Surandy ... live on Ch 7 this morning at 5:30am. Replay tonight at 8:30pm.Surandy wrote: The Winter Games is on???
When was the opening ceremony?
Haha same. Although I'd add tennis to that list. In fact, my mum stayed up and watched the Davis Cup on 7 last night/this morning till 5:00am. I guess if you were a fan of tennis and the winter olympics you would've just pulled an all-nighter!Surandy wrote:5:30am!!! After the parade? Apparently that was where the worst of it happened: Yoko Ono.lotti wrote: The ceremony was pretty good, especially after the parade of nations.
Although I did see how the torch was lit and that did look rather spectactular ... to a pyro like myself

So it was completely dreadful then?lotti wrote: Yoko was there, then Peter Gabriel came out to sing Imagine. the Italians never do anything by half.

But this was the work of Ric Birch, I have never understood what the fuss was about this guy.lotti wrote: the Italians never do anything by half.

before Yoko came out 28 acrobats formed a dove, the closing act was Pavarotti, the way the cauldron was lit was very creative, it started with fire on the ice and ended with fire in the sky. Ric had to run things by the organising committee and the fuss about him well you saw the kind of show he puts on.

I did say that I did not watch it, I only saw what I saw from the news highlights.lotti wrote: ... you saw the kind of show he puts on.
With all those people moving around to form shapes I was singing "It's a big ad, a great big ad ..." because I had no idea what the point was.
I didn't think much of his work in Sydney and other than that I haven't watched any other ceremony choreographed by him from start to finish.
