Well after 14 years of hurt the Hammers supporters will have a VERY VERY happy christmas with them beating us this morning 1 - 0.

The first 30 minutes was some of the best football you could expect to see against a top of the table team and a team 3rd last. After that, it was a case for United of throwing out the game plan and trying to make their individual stats look better.

Toe-rag winker try to score from anywhere and everywhere and only tried to pass the ball once. Rooney continued to grow his game in the support role (which is wrong, people should be supporting him) and twice late in the game Rooney was the ONLY player in the United half...Yes Van Der Saar was even up in the box.

So two shock results on the weekend...the lost to United and the draw by Arsenal to Portsmouth now see the race for the title closer with Chelsea now only two points behind. With some other interesting results on the weekend here is the table.

1 Man Utd 18 14 2 2 38 10 +28 44
2 Chelsea 18 13 3 2 30 11 +19 42

Should be interesting this week for United. We have got Villa away (I think) this week. We desperately need another striker and a central midfielder. Carrick is good, but he's been to quiet and hasn't validated the club forking out all that money for him. If Ferguson was serious, he'd sign Torres from Athletico Madrid. He is the Greg Inglis of Spanish Football, the wonderkid who the Spanish claim will win them a World Cup.

Villa took it up to United for the first 20-25 minutes and it was a cracking game, Rooney started on the bench and in parts United showed they needed him on the field. Toe rag winker scored two for us. The second half was the United of old and as I said before, the Scholes goal is a cracker.

Thought I had posted this earlier this morning before heading but...oh well here it is.

A couple of interesting results over night the biggest being the draw between Chelsea and Redding and the loss by Liverpool to Blackburn. The own goal in the Chelsea game was a shocker, but what is of more concern is the injury to Terry. Reports that Terry may have to have back surgery and could be out for 8 weeks plus.

Something that would play on the minds of every Chelsea fan.

The results from overnight games.

Chelsea      v Reading  2 - 2
Tottenham  v Aston Villa      2 - 1
West Ham  v Portsmouth    1 - 2
Man. United v Wigan       3 - 1
Sheff Utd    v Man. City      0 - 1
Bolton       v Newcastle      2 - 1
Blackburn    v Liverpool 1 - 0
Everton      v Middlesbrough  0 - 0
Watford      v Arsenal         1 - 2

From those results see Man U move 4 points clear (or two games that Chelsea have to win to over take United) the other important thing is the goal difference.

The Table looks like this;

Man Utd  20  16  2  2  44  11  33  50
Chelsea 20 14 4 2 35 15 20 46
Arsenal 20 10 6 4 37 18 19 36
Bolton 20 11 3 6 24 16 8 36
Portsmouth 20 10 5 5 30 18 12 35
Liverpool 20 10 4 6 28 16 12 34
Tottenham 20 9 4 7 25 26 -1 31
Everton 20 7 7 6 24 20 4 28
Reading 20 8 3 9 22 27 -5 27
Aston Villa 20 5 10 5 22 23 -1 25
Newcastle 20 7 4 9 21 23 -2 25
Fulham 19 6 6 7 18 28 -10 24
Man City 20 6 5 9 16 24 -8 23
Wigan Athletic 20 6 4 10 23 29 -6 22
Blackburn 19 6 4 9 19 28 -9 22
Middlesbrough 20 5 6 9 17 24 -7 21
Sheff Utd 20 5 5 10 15 26 -11 20
West Ham 20 5 3 12 12 26 -14 18
Charlton 19 3 3 13 13 33 -20 12
Watford 19 1 8 10 12 26 -14 11

This is what the table would look like if based only on the past six weeks and shows the form guide over the period.

I'll update this during the lunch break today but a few interesting results in the last round of games with both Man United and Chelsea drawing which leave United 6 points (or three games) clear still.

Not sure if this Termial Server thing will work here but here we go.

United could have gone 9 points clear had it beaten Newcastle but coming from behind and leading 2-1 after only 28 seconds into the second half. But Newcastle didn't let up and scored in the 78th minute to come away with a draw. Chelsea had the chance this morning to peg back United but didn't after it drew with Aston Villa.

A good return for Henry for Arsenal this morning scoring once from a penalty and came close to scoring twice with one shot rattling the post and another being cleared off the line.

Results

Liverpool  Bolton  3 - 0
Reading West Ham 6 - 0
Fulham Watford 0 - 0
Middlesbrough Sheff Utd 3 - 1
Portsmouth Tottenham 1 - 1

Some shocking plays over night saw some teams come away with a point when they shouldn't have or miss out on taking the 3 points that were in the bag. Chelsea pegged back United (but only in the goal difference stakes). After the disgrace of their performance during the week against a bunch of teenages Liverpool got back in form with a win over last place Watford. Boro had a good game which will boast their confidence coming into their next game against in a team just outside of qualifying for Europe.

Results so far

Watford v Liverpool  0 - 3
Liverpool returned to winning ways with a 3-0 hammering of Watford at Vicarage Road thanks to their new-look three-man strikeforce
Bolton Man. City 0 - 0
Joey Barton wasted a glorious chance to secure Manchester City's fourth straight win as a low-key Lancashire derby with Bolton Wanderers ended in stalemate at the Reebok Stadium
Charlton Middlesbrough 1 - 3
Charlton Athletic's predicament at the wrong end of the Premiership deepened as Middlesbrough came from behind to record their first away league win of the season at The Valley
Sheff Utd Portsmouth 1 - 1
Paul Gerrard and Claude Davis combined to produce a shocking mix-up that handed Portsmouth a point on a plate at Bramall Lane
West Ham Fulham 3 - 3
French defender Philippe Christanval fired home Fulham's equaliser in a goalmouth scramble in the fourth minute of stoppage time to rob West Ham United of a vital victory.
Chelsea Wigan 4 - 0
Holland winger Arjen Robben was inspirational as Chelsea comfortably saw off Wigan Athletic to keep the pressure on leaders Man U at the top of the table.
Man. United Aston Villa 3 - 1
Villa would be thankful it is all over after being beaten by United 3 times in 3 weeks. Michael Carrick celebrated his first goal for Manchester United as Sir Alex Ferguson's side cemented their place at the top of the table. Rooney needs to get a few goals under his blet to build his confendence back up, and his selfless assists for others to score could been seen by some that he is working on becoming a better all round footballer.
Blackburn Arsenal 0 - 2
A goal of breathtaking quality goal from Thierry Henry saw Arsenal make light of Gilberto's early red card to earn a valuable victory at Blackburn Rover

Last two games for round 23.
Everton Reading 14 Jan 13:45
Tottenham Newcastle 14 Jan 16:00

with the table looking like this

Man Utd  57
Chelsea 51
Liverpool 43
Arsenal 42
Bolton 40
Portsmouth  37
Tottenham 32
Everton 31
Reading 30
Man City 30
Blackburn 28
Fulham 28
Middlesbrough 27
Aston Villa 26
Newcastle 26
Sheff Utd 24
Wigan Athletic 22
West Ham 19
