Perthstormer, you had the right idea mate, a thread to talk about the current Ashes tour. Unfortunatly, whilst there are posts that do focus solely on the game being played (pg 11 was doing really well), one must wade through the tirade of childish innuendo, accusations, whinging and just general shite to read these posts. I'm not blaming anyone in particular, I just want to read about CRICKET and cricket only!

Thus, I propose that this thread be use strictly for game talk, and let the other one simmer away with everything else that poeple feel is necessary to let the world know about.

Am really looking forward to today's play, I wouldn't be surprised if whoever wins today will win the test. T'was great finally seeing Monty bowl yesterday, have heard a tonne about the bloke but never really seen him play. Hopefully he will provide the spark that England need (although Harmi did ok also) to rescue the series, or at least make it a tense finish.

Clark is one of the finds for Australia for a long time and lets hope they don't become to reliant on him and burn him out, he is one player you would pay to go and see no matter who he was up against.

He is one of the very few cricketers in the world that with the ball in hand you expect something to happen at any stage and so you can't and don't want to turn your head away at all.

If he doesn't get man of the series there is something very, very wrong.

Tell you what, how valuable is this last wicket stand between Monty and Harmi, great confidence booster for them and absolutely frustrating the bowlers. And all vital runs in a low scoring test thus far. Can they pass Australia's 244???? What a great game!

One would have to say that what many thought would be a standard Perth test is no where near it. As I mentioned the wicket has turned and will turn again (something many on the side of the Aussie camp are complaining about).

I still say Clark is the man of the series, and our biggest mistake is not playing on the front foot and believing in ourselves. But having said that, think this test will be a draw with the final test (Sydney) on late day 4 being the decider.

What a series for what was meant to be a white wash to the Aussies.

we now have the game well and trully under controll.  The english just frustrate the hell out of you they have so much potential but are yet so far behind.  Flintoff not that scary if he is not getting reverse and over here its not going to be that much of a factor.  Harmison when on song is sensational but when he is not like this evening he is just a wast of time there was no way he was going to take a wicket.

I just dont think england can take 20 Wickets in a test against us.  The diffrence between this series and last was the English took it to us we were forced to play fron behind all the time that have not done that once in three test.

Ashes will be in the rightful hands by Monday

what happened to the English, I thought they would never want to let the Ashes go now that they have them.

Have to say that our problem is not backing ourselves and being aggressive with the bat. Relying on too many players coming back for long injuries isn't good enough either in a team sport.

Australia showed that when gets bogged down by a team their frustration gets the better of them to make more mistakes.

Very proud of the way that someone who can't field and can't bat (by his own admission) showed that when you are aggressive against the Aussie they are beatable.....Kevin should be moved up to number 4 and it's a pity Strauss twice (no fault of his) hasn't been able to show what a good cricketer and stroke player he is.

Having said that, this match will end in a draw with if it continues the way it did in the last hour of play on day 2. A few quick wickets this morning we see us win it.

there will be a result here I think England in the last hour were not bowling for wickets and had ther heads down.  harmison was bowling off stump too wide and there was now way he was going to take a wicket.  I think flintoff has been flat this test as well.  Even if the Aussies declare tonight 2 days will be plenty to bowl out the english

Congrats to clarke on another Ton..... I really regret saying he was overrated so I am eating my words again.  Symonds another mistake but if you have the game under controll It doesnt matter.  Reminds me of a time when Mark waugh was in terrible form but cause we were doing so well there no need to drop him.  and Taylor went through the same thing.

Lotti....HOW? it's the second bloody innings for us! (as much as I would love us to be able to be allowed to follow on ;) as this point of time)

I have to ask what has Staruss done to South Africa or a South African? Three bad and wrong decision in a row by the same South African, christ :o :o :o :o :o

I have been saying for a ages and will say it again, Gilchrist is THE most under rated player in the world today. He is the only player in the game that can and should hold his head up on being a real cricketer.

Congrats on a great ton today, Gilly, totally deserved.  =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> and shut many Aussies up...again.
