Victoria was last week crowned the 2005 Under 15 Affiliated States National Champions at the Australian Secondary Rugby League National Championships that were held at Rockhampton from June 26 - July 1.

In achieving this feat, the Under 15 side created Rugby League history being the first Victorian representative side to progress through the National Championships undefeated.

The Victorian side had a gruelling schedule that comprised of four hard fought games in five days in the Queensland heat.

The scalps that the Victorian team collected on their title run included the New South Wales Combined Independent Schools, Northern Territory, South Australia and the pre-tournament favourites Western Australia.

Victorian coach Stuart Millgate was proud of his player's efforts and their spirit throughout the tournament.

"The boys displayed great skill and professionalism over the week and were deserved winners," said Millgate.

The Director of the Victorian Rugby League Representative Program Paul Bramley also paid tribute to the performance of the Under 15 team.

"Over the last two years the VRL has implemented a playing style for its representative teams that we thought would be successful at the national level," explained Bramley.

"The Under 15 team embraced our game plan and committed to our program over the last six months and all 20 players have reaped the benefit."

There were also individuals recognised for the team's outstanding performance with six players selected for the Under 15's Affiliated States Australian team. The players were Sam Nguyen (Bayside Secondary College), Johnson Taipiri-Reeves (Altona Secondary College), Drury Lowe (Box Forest Secondary College), Cameron Micallef (Mackillop Secondary College), Josh Millgate (Parkdale Secondary College) and Jake Paczkowski (Parkdale Secondary College).
