Friday Night Football on before midnight?
Channel Nein has axed Burke's Backyard, which previously was on TV on Friday nights at 7:30pm. This meant that the AFL wasn't on until 8:30pm, then the late news and then the NRL Friday night match (usually at 12:15am advertised and often as late as 12:30am actually starting).
With Burke's Backyard gone their is speculation in NRL supporter circles that the NRL match may be televised live or on half hour delay.
Do people think this will mean that Channel Nein Melbourne would consider showing us the NRL match before midnight???

For Melbourne - most likely not. AFL still won't start until 7:40pm, and unless the AFL are going to change a major policy to not show games live against the gate, unless a sellout, the AFL coverage will still start at 8:30pm (or maybe 8pm - a smaller delay). This will mean that we'll still not be likely to get the game on the day it's played.
An interesting read on this topic:

The author of this article suggests that we'll see no change in Melbourne, sounds like it could be even further delayed.
