ImageBBC picture from match in June.

Only a couple of hours to go before K.O. at Headingley tonight.

One team at least thinks it will be a close call. Wigan have been practising drop goals this week. Perhaps their expecting a repeat of last year's fixture ... with a Danny Tickle special.

There'll be a terrific atmosphere for this match. In fact I think I can hear the crowd warming up from here (Darrington is about 18 miles from Headingley).

Hard Luck Wigan
Leeds 40 -12 Wigan

Leeds ran the first half, but Wigan came right back putting terrific pressure on the Rhinos. Andy Farrell leading by example as usual. Wigan controlled the match getting the deficit down to 10 points.

Sadly for the Warriors up comes Man of the Match Marcus Bai to settle the game.

So its a West Yorkshire final next Saturday at Old Trafford. I've dusted down my passport to make that journey over the Pennines!
Pity its not a Wigan/Bradford final!

Interesting to here what all those two faced Leeds supporters would be saying now..If my memory serves me well and I think it does !, I remember all the moans and groans coming from a lot of them when Marcus Bai went to Leeds , they didn't think he had anything to offer their team and did not suit their style of play at all blah blah blah..they were basically the words used from memory..oh and there were a couple of ..oh F*#ks in there as well!!!!
Well there were a couple of OH F*#ks coming from me on Sat morning directed to Marcus Bai as well , but for a different reason :?
Cest La Vie..boys we will fight to win another day

You were NOT alone Rose :( I took off the headphones & walked away after Marcus got the hat trick............It somehow made it more painful that he did the damage.

Since I'm off to the theatre Saturday night ,I'll be sleeping during the Yorkshire derby at OT

You culture vulture, PD. What are you going to see? The White Rose Players performing 'Das Boot'?

By the way they are considering changing the time zones over here:
BBC News Website:
An MP is bidding to harness the principle of devolution, to allow England and Wales to move to continental time without Scotland.

The Scots can make up their own minds, says Mr Beard

Shifting the clocks an hour forward is popular in England because it gives lighter evenings.

But previous attempts to switch time zones have been defeated by Scottish MPs whose constituents do not want winter mornings to get any darker.

Kent MP Nigel Beard said devolution means Scots should not have the power to determine time for the English.

In a Private Member's Bill being introduced in parliament this week he wants to give English and Welsh MPs the power to change the clocks independently - and allow the Scottish and Northern Irish assemblies to follow if they wish.
There is some talk of taking things further and allowing the regions to vote on this issue of time zones separately. But as the chap said on Radio Leeds when this was mentioned, such a system is running currently as Lancashire is already 20 years behind the times...

I was shocked when I heard him say that...as you can guess.  :D :D :D

Its a good job the name I use on here is a pseudonym as otherwise I might not be let over the border next Saturday afternoon.
I hope you'll all shout for Bradford despite the outragious stuff above:!:

Oh and the poor folk of Leeds (Rhinos) thought they'd already got two good wingers in Francis Cummings and Mark Calderwood... but Marcus got straight into the team and proved he is first choice material.

Great news for all true RL fans: Andy Farrell has just been named Man of Steel for Season 2004.
This bloke has worked his socks off all season holding the Wigan team together and leading by inspiration, determination and example.
This is the second time he's had this honour. From what I can remember it must have been 7 or 8 years ago the last time.
It is well deserved and a good choice as it would have been so easy to choose somebody from Leeds or Bradford.
What a great player!

Second was Leeds' Danny McGuire and Bradford winger Lesley Vainikolo was third...fair enough.
