I know this will probably be a controversal topic, but I would like to hear opinions any way
My view is,when a referee sends a decision to the video ref, he does so because he cannot make a call..therefore I do not think that it should then be reverted back to that same referee as "refs call".
Now I know that it is a gray area, but I think that once a referee has given the decision to someone else then he should have no more say on that decision.
This is something that has bothered me for years, how can a ref, send it to the video ref, then it get sent back to him and he then makes a call..why then did he not make that call in the first place ???

I used to feel the same Rose but I think I have a better grasp of it now.

From my understanding, if the ref has an opinion he will say so to the video ref
when he sends it upstairs for checking. So he thinks he knows but is sending it
up to be checked.

The video ref can then rule try or no try based on the video evidence but if the
video evidence is inconclusive (ie: they don't quite have the right angle, the ball
is hidden from view etc), rather than the video ref making a decision based on
this footage alone (ie: benefit of the doubt try), because the ground ref has
indicated that they have an opinion the video ref can refer to back down for
a refs call (and basically pass the buck).

Well thats my take on it anyway...

Hailstorm's view is the spin I got on it from the sports ears.
If it's sent the the VR because neither ground ref could see,or got a differing view from the touchies then it rarely comes back as 'Refs Call'.
Considering the camera views, etc in use there should be very few cases of 'Refs Call' anyhow :?
