Five clubs breach Salary Cap in 2010
The National Rugby League has today outlined Salary Cap breaches against the Wests Tigers, the Gold Coast Titans, the St George Illawarra Dragons, the Parramatta Eels and the Canberra Raiders following the completion of all audits into the 2010 season.
“The compliance across the vast majority of clubs has been encouraging but the penalties are a reminder that the Salary Cap will be enforced,” NRL Chief Executive, Mr David Gallop, said today.
“Six clubs were breached last year, most notably the Storm. It is pleasing to see the number down this year but the warning bells for anyone looking to break the rules could not be any louder.
“For the most part we are seeing a genuine wish to comply with the rules from the clubs but this remains an area in which we are always conducting thorough investigations.
“The Salary Cap audit team works incredibly hard to monitor the clubs and deserves considerable recognition for the role it plays in making the Telstra Premiership the closest and most exciting competition in Australian sport.”

Well well well, rules for one & rules for everyone else it seems.
Face it NRL, the salary cap you say you 'enforce' is a fricking farce, nor can you even enforce it properly.
FACT, nearly everyone is abusing the salary cap in one way or another (except little Cronulla LOL)

And for the record - the Wests Tigers were fined not for systematic rorting of the salary cap over 5 years. They were fined for misinterpreting the rules re: players from Toyota Cup getting exemptions for part of their salaries. Wests Tigers assumed this also referred to the previous under 20's equivalent and players that had come through their system, but have been told this is incorrect.
This is a misunderstanding - not a rort! They are completely different things!

So.................Explain to me why Storm got reamed over for players having Honda / Suzuki cars ?,(was that sponsor A or D in the Gallop whitewash report ?)
Yet the Broncos & Titans have Audi's,(A sponsor for BOTH clubs),yet these vehicles are classed as 'exempt' under the salary cap ?
A small matter but how many other exemptions / rorts / paper bags are missed ?
Remember the only reason Waldron & Co got caught was because of two whistle blowers - One allegedly an agent,whilst the other an alleged former employee.
Gallop's grandstanding about how fantastic his pet auditor is at his job just doesn't stand up to close inspection

Another 'loophole' Gallop & Co have shown no intent of closing.................whats the difference between mcmanus and the well documented 'thoroughbreds' for the broncos?
The Thoroughbreds are not sponsors & have no 'major or official link' to the Brisbane Broncos club.

Mcmanus was not a sponsor of the club either, but in the report some of the invoices where for payments for the Kearns Lounge Marquaee and this was supplied by the Olympic Park Trust in the renting agreement. The money Storm paid Mcmanus then went back to players as payments, so the report stated. Gallop says this is not allowed in the salary cap.
The Thoroughbreds money does noe come from the Broncos in any or way of form. They do it out of there heart, because they love the club!!!
