Widnes scrum-half Willie Peters will miss Saturday's potential Super League relegation-decider against Castleford.
The Australian half-back has been ruled out after tearing a hamstring in the 40-6 defeat at Wakefield on Sunday.
He will be replaced by 20-year-old Stephen Myler as Widnes go for the point that will guarantee them survival and condemn the Tigers to relegation.
"It's disappointing because we lost total direction when Willie went off on Sunday," said Widnes' Frank Endacott.
"But I have complete confidence in young Stephen to come in and do a good job for us. He is enthusiastic and full of talent.

Cas are teetering on the edge, definitely desperate.
Widnes just have to beat Cas...it'll prove if they do Cas deserve to go down. If not then its oh dear!
As it is Cas have to win against both Widnes AND Wakefield. If they lose either they're down. If Cas beat Widnes then it will put the cat amongst the black and white pigeons!
Please just settle things by beating Cas, Widnes!

Must have been an interesting game.Either both sides were solid in defence or downright woeful in attack :?:

Even with the win Cas need Widnes to lose next week & for them to beat Wakefield by 24 points  to avoid the slippery slide.
