The NRL on Thursday launched a great new service on their website...
BROADCASTING GAMES LIVE...
Yep you read it right...
You can only watch if you live in the UK though....forget the market where they have a club, they don't matter at all,
a farce of the highest order.

Unfortunately it would be in breach of their contract with Nein. And while Nein flout the agreement at will, they would be the first ones screaming "litigate" if the NRL did it to them.
It came about because Setanta UK (who had the rights to NRL and Origin in the UK) went broke and switched off on Tuesday night. The original rushed idea was to make origin available in the UK on Wednesday and they didn't think they'd be able to sell the rights in time.
Good for the Brits, not so good for us.

We must all hang together or, most assuredly, we shall all hang separately
Some in the UK found this service did not work for them.It only seems to be suitable to certain ISP's ?Stormwarning[c] wrote: The NRL on Thursday launched a great new service on their website...

Setanta Ireland is still broadcasting,(just) & a few pubs in the UK have that feed for some NRL games.
Since Telstra,(BigPond) are charging outrageous fees for what is sometimes provided FREE in the UK as part of a home phone package, they would be loath to provide part of that service free online to long suffering sports fans
Also - As you're always saying SW - This would only benefit the ONLINE fans that are already committed & does nothing to actually GROW support in Victoria.
There are always ways to watch the NRL live. You just have to be committed,(or twisted enough) to search them out.
I watched SOO II via a link someone in the UK posted to BigPond TV3
And until he moved house,(And had ISP problems) Namikstudio provided proficient live coverage via the P2P network.
This schedule of links to Rugby broadcasts also lists NRL - SL & Toyota cup links.
Although the NRL links are currently listed as 'uncertain' or 'region restricted' it's worth seeking out week to week.
