A 14 yr old ball boy at the Manly v Warriors game upstaged both John Hopoate and a touchie even after being called a little shit by Hoppa. Both Hoppa & the touchie were yelling at the kid to throw the ball in so Manly could have a quick restart, but the kid knew by doing so, he would be breaking the rules.

Yeah I read about that in the HS...Had a bit of a laugh, but it does sort of make you wonder what's going on when a 14 year old knows the rules better than someone who's supposed to be officiating the game...

well, the issue here lies in the players and officials being used to seeing the ball thrown in from the sidelines. When it becomes the norm, people assume it's within the rules. You may notice hardly anyone put the ball on the ground in any game. Watch for it this weekend and see how many times a ball is put on the ground from the sideline instead of being thrown in. If you can be bothered and you have them, pick up tapes of old games and have a look.

I can't say much for the official, except that he isn't the only one who doesn't know all the rules but as for Hoppa, well, it is not suprising that 14 year old's have a higher intellect than him.
All the 14 year olds I know would have a lot more sense than to stick fingers up other guys arses too

it's a media beat up. made all the news here in melbourne, just like all previous hoppa incidents. Storm's massive win made the news for one day but hoppa was still news worthy until at least last night.

Wow I thought it was only the Sydney papers that worked like that, Bad news about Bulldogs, Mason, Souths and Hoppa .... then anything else.
A couple of my friends were photographed signing the fans Code of Conduct before the Dragons match last week and they photographer said there would be an article in the Sun Herald .. Sunnday came around and of course there was nothing! My repsonse was the editor probably saw the article screwed up his nose and said "Bulldogs fan behave themselves? Nah that won't work, what else have you got there?"

I thought the Melbourne media was more AFL, AFL more AFL, other sports, then Rugby League idiots and the Storm given equal amounts of hidden space LOL
