The 2005 Tri-Nations tournament has been given the go-ahead by 'international bosses'. They've changed the format slightly since this year's successful venture.(£750,000 profit made). The seven-game event will again begin in the Southern Hemisphere before moving to Britain.
However, both matches between Australia and New Zealand will now take place Down Under to reduce travelling.
I can't for the life of me work out why, if it's accepted as a good idea worth running again, it's not being held in Australia, New Zealand or even both countries. It's supposed to be held in Australia in 2006. Why not this year? Is there more of a risk involved? I know the final match was an embarrassing one way affair at Elland Road...I was there...but the other matches were competitive. Is it that the crowds might not turn out over there? Is it seen as too much of a foregone conclusion?
