If I created a new thread for every NRL player that acted a fool, we'd have 17 new threads per week... So, I thought I would create one central place to discuss the general idiocy of RL players

NRL player Dylan Walker charged with assaulting woman

Manly Sea Eagles player Dylan Walker has been charged with assaulting his Miss Universe fiance at a Sydney home overnight.

Manly NRL star Dylan Walker has been stood down from training after being charged with assault following an alleged domestic violence incident involving his partner on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.

The woman, 24, suffered minor cuts to her shoulder, leg and feet at a home in Dee Why, on Thursday afternoon and was treated by paramedics at the scene.

Walker, also 24, was later arrested and charged with common assault and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Walker is engaged to Alexandra Ivkovic, a former Miss Universe Australia finalist. She gave birth to the couple’s son in July.

The Sea Eagles centre was driven away from Manly Police Station by coach Des Hasler after being granted bail to appear at Manly Local Court on Tuesday.

Manly chief executive Lyall Gorman said the former Kangaroos Test star and South Sydney premiership winner wouldn’t be required for training until after his court appearance.

“He needs to clear his head. He’s only been released from Manly police station through the night,” Gorman said on Friday.

“I’m not even sure exactly what time but I understand it was in the middle of the night (that) he was released on bail.” Gorman said his club’s chief concern was the welfare of the alleged victim and a four month old child.

“I haven’t been able to speak to Dylan personally. I have spoken to his partner on four occasions - twice last night and twice this morning - and been trying to make sure we look after her welfare and the welfare of the family and the young baby,” he said.

“She’s in good care with her mum and dad.” Gorman, who has also referred the matter to the NRL Integrity Unit, wouldn’t speculate on any possible sanctions should Walker be found guilty.

“I don’t have the police statements of facts yet so it’s a bit early for me to make too much comment other than to express great disappointment on behalf of our club,” he said.

“Allegations around domestic violence are of course are totally foreign to anything we stand for and our culture and values, as of course, it is to the game holistically.”

The Sea Eagles player, who signed a four-year contract with the club in late 2015, was granted conditional bail and is due to appear in Manly Local Court on December 11.

Yeah, should've hit him harder. Walker was bashing Scott off the ball all night and making threats towards him. Deserved what he got.

Josh Reynolds describes his 2018 season as a train wreck.

"My body failed me, man."

But in pursuit of a remedy to erase the nightmare that was his five-game debut campaign for the Wests Tigers, he found more than he bargained for on a self-funded study mission in Melbourne in September.

I am so happy. Our little tribe is going to be together in Sydney and we're going to make it work. That's massive for me that she's willing to come up here and raise the kids. I don't want them growing up without their dad or someone dropping in every couple of weeks. It's not the person I am. I want to be part of their lives and I can't wait. I want to be a hands on dad. I'm honestly over the moon."

In October, a day before Reynolds was meant to fly to Bali on a holiday, he received the phone call that changed his life.

The news - that he would soon become a father - shocked him, so you could imagine his surprise a couple of months later when he learnt there were identical twins on the way.

"I'm a big believer in everything happens for a reason," Reynolds told NRL.com.

"I wouldn't have gone to Melbourne if it wasn't for the season I went through. But if I didn't go to Melbourne I wouldn't be having the twins we're expecting next year. Yeah, last season was a write-off, but it turns out it was a blessing in disguise."

It didn't look good for me at 29 having done a couple of hammies. If I didn't stop the rot, it was going to keep happening. We did some intense testing and I have been following their advice with some exercises and tips and I feel great.

"My confidence is back and I feel like I'm ready to get back to the player I know I can be. I’m happy.

"To have these two kids on the way, it’s the proudest moment of my life and I know my life is going to change but I’m so happy and all I want to do is be the best dad I can be and give these two kids the best possible chance in life."

Wests Tigers recruit Zane Musgrove charged with aggravated indecent assault
news.com.au
7th December 2018

A former South Sydney player and Wests Tigers recruit has been charged with aggravated indecent assault after an incident last month.

Wests Tigers recruit Zane Musgrove has been charged with a range of offences, including aggravated indecent assault.

Nine News reported Musgrove and a companion were accused of aggravated indecent assault after an incident at the Coogee Bay Hotel last month.
Both men reportedly handed themselves into police earlier this week and will face court next month.

It’s more bad news for the NRL, just a day after Manly’s Dylan Walker was stood down from training with the Sea Eagles after an alleged domestic violence incident.

A police statement from the Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command read: “Two men have been charged following an investigation into an alleged indecent assault in Sydney’s east last month.

“About 12.30am on Saturday 24 November 2018, a 22-year-old woman was allegedly indecently assaulted by two men at a licensed premises in Coogee.

“The woman reported the alleged incident to security and later made a report to Eastern Beaches Police Area Command.

“Following inquiries by detectives, a 22-year-old man attended Maroubra Police Station on Wednesday 5 December 2018.

“He was arrested and charged with assault with act of indecency, aggravated indecent assault — offender in company, and common assault.
“About 8am on Thursday 6 December 2018, a 22-year-old man attended Maroubra Police Station.

“He was charged with assault with act of indecency, and aggravated indecent assault — offender in company.

“Both men were granted conditional bail to appear at Waverley Local Court on Wednesday 23 January 2019.”

Musgrove had played 27 games with the South Sydney Rabbitohs but was released to join the Tigers in November.

The front-rower is also a Samoan international and played in the 2017 World Cup.

The Wests Tigers released a statement on its website about the incident.

“Wests Tigers have been made aware of an alleged incident involving player Zane Musgrove. The club has alerted the NRL Integrity Unit of the matter,” the statement read.

“Wests Tigers takes its position in the community very seriously and will work with the NRL Integrity Unit and NSW Police on the allegations.
“The club will make no further comment on the matter until the investigation is complete.”

New Tigers coach Michael Maguire brought Musgrove to the club and when it was announced, praised the 22-year-old’s performances.

“When I worked with Zane previously and he played consecutive games I could see that he was growing into a really strong player,” said Maguire. “With more experience I can see him excelling in the future.

“He brings size, strength and skill to our pack and works hard on his defence. I look forward to working with him to help him reach his potential.”

Rugby league star Dylan Walker has faced court today on allegations of assaulting his fiancee, a former Miss Unvierse Australia finalist.

NRL player Dylan Walker has pleaded not guilty to assaulting his fiancee Alexandra Ivkovic at a home on Sydney’s northern beaches.

The 24-year-old was arrested and charged with common assault and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, both domestic violence-related, after his partner suffered cuts to her shoulder, leg and feet in Dee Why on December 6.

At Manly Local Court on Tuesday, the Sea Eagles centre’s lawyer Ramy Qutami said he was instructed to enter pleas of not guilty to both charges and the matter was adjourned to December 18 to fix a hearing date if required.

Ivkovic is a former Miss Australia finalist and the pair have a young son who was born in July.

Ivkovic was seen in the passenger seat as Walker drove himself to court on Tuesday morning and she was reportedly sitting next to him once they arrived at court.

Walker’s NRL career appears in limbo with the Manly star stood down from training and he faces the possibility of having his contract torn up if found guilty.

Hard to prosecute when the victim wants to stay in a relationship with him... He will likely get off and continue to be a massive scumbag within a massive scumbag club.

By police reporter Mark Reddie and Nick Sas

NRL player Jack de Belin has been charged with the aggravated sexual assault of a woman in Wollongong, south of Sydney.

The alleged 19-year-old victim claims the assault happened at an apartment about 1.30am on Sunday after the pair met at a nightclub in Wollongong on Saturday night.

The St George Dragons and NSW State of Origin representative turned himself in to Wollongong Police Station this afternoon.

The 27-year-old NRL player denied the allegations.

NSW Police confirmed on Thursday night De Belin has been granted conditional bail.

Police said inquiries were continuing.

De Belin will appear in Wollongong Local Court on February 12.

A spokesperson for the St George Dragons said it was taking the matter "very seriously" and was working with De Belin, police and the NRL Integrity Unit.

"Jack has been provided with welfare support to enable him the time and opportunity to deal with the matter," the club said.

"As this is a police matter to be considered by the court, the club is not in a position to make any further comment at this time."

De Belin had a break-out season for St George Illawarra this year, going on to make his NSW debut in this year's Origin.

The charges against De Belin come as two other NRL stars faced court this week.

‘Bolton is not on a pedestal’: Cowboy learns fate over Bondi assault
Sarah McPhee, AAP
January 7, 2019

Scott Bolton has pleaded guilty to the common assault of a woman at a bar in Bondi while his Cowboys were in camp in Sydney last May.

NRL veteran Scott Bolton has escaped conviction after pleading guilty to the common assault of a woman in a Sydney bar.

The North Queensland Cowboys prop, 31, had formally denied a charge of indecent assault against the woman at Bondi Beach Public Bar in May 2018.

In Waverley Local Court on Monday, following discussions with police, that charge was withdrawn and Bolton entered his plea to the lesser charge of common assault.

He was handed a 12-month conditional release order and escaped conviction.

“Mr Bolton is not placed on a pedestal by the court, he is expected to behave as any other member of the public behaves,” magistrate Greg Grogin said.

The magistrate noted the high-profile rugby league player has been scrutinised by the media, club officials, the public and “no doubt his family”.

“(But) it can’t be forgotten that Mr Bolton put himself in the spotlight by committing an offence,” the magistrate said.

At the time of the assault, the Cowboys were in camp in Sydney having played the Penrith Panthers the previous day, May 4.

Bolton was charged on May 6 and later fronted reporters to tearfully say he couldn’t speak about the matter because of police and NRL integrity unit investigations.

“What I can say is that I am taking the matter very seriously and co-operating fully with both the police and the NRL integrity unit,” Bolton said at the time.

“I would ask that you respect the privacy of my wife and my family who are supporting me through this difficult time.”

Bolton made his NRL debut with the Cowboys in 2007 and helped guide them to the 2015 premiership.

He played 13 more games in 2018 after the incident, with the team finishing the season 13th on the ladder.

I don't see it as a 'player behaving badly' as such (people are free to do what they want in the privacy of their own home), but the Napa tapes are quite embarrassing...

Hopefully it comes out who leaked them.
