Just found this article....I literally did not know this story...mind blown

Melbourne Storm coach Craig Bellamy yesterday said he had not been ruthless and petty in dumping lower-grade player Aidan Guerra after the back-rower signed to play for Sydney Roosters, but had made a tough decision that was for the good of the club.

Guerra signed with the Storm in 2005, but has been sidelined with injuries for much of the past couple of years and, while being in the National Rugby League training squad, had not played a first-grade game.

He has been playing with the Storm feeder team on the NSW central coast this season and last week told the Storm he had signed with the Roosters for two years.

Traditionally, players have been allowed to play out the rest of the season with their teams after signing with new clubs for the following year, but Guerra was told he would no longer have a berth in the reserves but could play with the Storm-affiliated Sunbury club in the local Victorian competition.

Guerra spoke of his shock at the decision to a Sydney newspaper, but Bellamy yesterday said the situation was different to that of first-graders Steve Turner, Matt Cross, Will Chambers and Joseph Tomane, who had continued to play in the top grade despite being among those also leaving the club at the end of the season.

He said what it came down to was that Guerra, who will continue to be paid by the Storm until the end of his contract, was not in line to play first grade for the remainder of the season and was taking a place that could be used to help develop other young players who were staying.

Bellamy said he would look at giving Guerra's spot at the Central Coast Storm to under-20s players so they could gain experience playing against the hardened bodies of more mature men and that would in turn provide an opportunity for a Sunbury player to move into the under 20s - experience that could benefit the team in the future.

He said the decision on Guerra was ''not taken lightly'' but was ''the best decision for the club''.

''We're not going to cut our nose off to spite our face [by dumping first-graders]. Aidan was not playing first grade and I wanted to give others the experience … it was not a decision that was taken lightly [and] the club backed me up on this,'' Bellamy said.

Storm football operations manager Frank Ponissi yesterday confirmed the club had received an approach from the manager of Wests Tigers cult figure Daine Laurie.

But Ponissi said the asking price for raw-boned Laurie, who has been dumped from the Tigers' first-grade team and is, it is believed, being chased by several clubs, was out of the Storm's price bracket.

Apparently the FIRST time a player has been sent off for biting. At least he should be able to count practice games and internationals towards his suspension - you know, like James Graham did...

Just a thought ...and doesn’t excuse what he did butttt KP has a damaged voice box what if being strangled like that does actually cut off his airway and he was trying to breathe ...

I don;t know, the replay doesn't look too good for him.

Good on Johnson for not giving up his mate, although at the time I don't think he hesitated throwing him under the bus to the ref.

It's hard to see if KP actually made a clear biting action. With James Graham, it was clear. With KP, it is less so.

For what it's worth, he is vehemently denying any bite.
