Featherstone have just taken on a young Australian guy called Josh Weedon for next season.
From surfing the net it looks like he plays A grade for Queanbeyan Blues who got to the grand final of the Canberra cup. If this is him, can anybody tell me anything about that club/the standard of play or anything else that's relevent?
I read that the Q Blues are a feeder club for the Canberra Raiders.
Cheers

Sorry Graham, don't know anything about him.

He'll be a youngster coming to gain experience. Apparently he's been recommended to us by a couple of Australian retired ex- Featherstone Rovers players.
I've tried surfing the net but I don't seem to be able to get the definitive answer as to Queanbeyan Blues. Apparently Q is near to Canberra and Q Blues is a successful club.
I found an Irish RL club that mentioned that they were a feeder club for Canberra Raiders. When I quoted this on the Fev Forum, somebody doubted it.

well, seeing as it's a regional club and not in the ARL Premier League, there's likely to be not very much info on the club let alone the guy, on the net.

Queanbeyan is in NSW, but is essentially a suburb of Canberra (which is in the ACT - go figure). Queanbeyan United, aka The Blues, are part of the CRL (Country Rugby League) playing in the Group 8 comp which takes in the ACT and local NSW.
*aside - send me a pm if you need a geography summary*
Here is the CRL website. Click on Canberra then follow the links to Queanbeyan United, although there's not a huge amount of info there.
Apparently David Campesie - an absolute Wallaby legend (and the only man I've ever seen throw a pass sideline to sideline ) was a Q Blues junior before he went to union.
Spoke to a mate who used to play for Woden Rams and he said that the locals have big raps for Weedon and hoped that he would be a future Raider, but that he personally didn't know much about him.

That's brilliant TC.
Thanks for the trouble you took.
I'll surf around a bit more... thanks for the leads you've given me there.
