Size isn't just about height - Walsh has about 6-7 kg on Sua. Also, Sua is only a couple of kilos heavier than Paps and already has injury concerns as well, so in what way do you mean he is much more robust?Papenhuyzen23 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 30, 2025 5:34 pm Also what’s with the height thing? He is 175cm Reece Walsh is 177cm and destroyed us from the back, it’s not indicative of a fullbacks ability. Sua is built solid too, much more robust than Paps.

Sua is “thicker” as opposed to the thinner more “wire” type of frame that Paps possesses, look at Suas biceps and calf muscles, twice the size of Papi’s.
No doubt though 82kg is probably not enough at this level to sustain longevity, Sua prob needs to hit the gym even harder this offseason if he is going to become a regular in the 1 jersey, Walsh was probably around that weight when he came into grade and it didn’t suit him well, he has only looked better once he got stronger.
He is also fantastic in the air, so his height doesn’t really make him deficient in that regard.

Also Sua tore a hamstring running away for a try, not a size or contact issue, conditioning more than anything.
I don't really think us having a bit of money to spend is a big deal as there's not many players available that I'd actually want at free agent market value. I'd love us to try to not have all 4 of our spine players on a mil+ going forward.
I'd say the play is to start next year is Munster to start games at fullback and sua off the bench to maybe try manage his fatigue and minutes due to his repeat hamstring problems

Might need to spend in the outside backs. Coates, Howarth, Warbrick and Meaney have all spent far too much time out of the side. Our most durable, GA, has departed.
And that's without mentioning our depth: Seve, Ieremia and Leo - more injury plagued players.
It'll be interesting to see if we get any calls from opposition clubs on the back of these announcements. Every man and their dog knows we now have cash to splash. It's exciting. Agree, there is nothing exciting out of contract atm. But let's see who is prepared to make themselves available.

Dislocations and breaks are unpreventable but soft tissue can be somewhat negated, is this a strength and conditioning issue?Lucas wrote: ↑Thu Oct 30, 2025 7:24 pm Might need to spend in the outside backs. Position - Left right out or hung out to dry
Sometimes it is just genetics. You see some players have an entire career without being injured. So there is an element of luck. Perhaps there is an issue to be addressed, I wouldn't know.Bullucked wrote: ↑Thu Oct 30, 2025 8:54 pmDislocations and breaks are unpreventable but soft tissue can be somewhat negated, is this a strength and conditioning issue?Lucas wrote: ↑Thu Oct 30, 2025 7:24 pm Might need to spend in the outside backs. Courier Mail reporting that Sua Fa’alogo has been told by the club he will get first opportunity in the #1 jumper for 2026
So there goes all of the other theories, club is going all in on Sua.

I have no problems with looking at the options to squeeze a few more $$....but I'd be disappointed if Shawn didn't re-sign.Papenhuyzen23 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 31, 2025 5:10 pm Daily telegraph reporting Shawn Blore is going to test his value on the open market on November 1 as well.

Purdue is an absolute elite talent and I’d love the Storm to nab him.
Would love for him to bulk up a bit and play centre but he’s also great cover for when Munster retires or if fullback doesn’t workout for Fa’alogo.
