Agree on Wish, good bloke and can fill a lot of positions, but isn’t elite and found his niche as a bench utility, as a starter I’m not sure he is good enough to play full time there for any NRL club, maybe a running 5/8 outside a dominant half back like Cleary, he has been massively over rated by the media.
If he wants the big pay day, let him walk.

Tbh - hard to wish Pezet the best. I think the deal is a disgrace.

Agreed....usually quite happy to wish departing players all the best (like Ando and even Wish)....but to me, this deal seems very strange.Shuttlesworth99 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 29, 2025 9:34 pm Tbh - hard to wish Pezet the best. I think the deal is a disgrace.
Pezet's gone now.......so let's focus on the next generation of Storm players for that halfback position.

I agree on this. Issue is he plays five-eighth and hooker well but is an average halfback.
When he’s called on to play fullback or anywhere else in the backline he’s kind of poor because he’s not a particularly big guy.
Overall he’s essentially just a very good utility.
Yep spent a lot of time injured and prior to this season didn't look first grade ready at all. The way he and his manager carry on likes he's been waiting years and years to get a go is absurd.Shuttlesworth99 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 29, 2025 9:34 pm Tbh - hard to wish Pezet the best. Its official, Papi is gone.
I feel like the time was right, as big a fan as I am I’m always a Storm fan first, hope Paps succeeds wherever he goes. At his peak pre injury he was one of the best and most exciting players in the competition, it’s a shame injuries curtailed what could have been an elite career.
Good luck Ryan!

Love the bloke....what a supreme player on the field and what a fantastic person off the field.Papenhuyzen23 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 30, 2025 10:39 am Its official, Papi is gone.

The insight I gained of him as a person on the 167 poddy will stay with me...he's a thoroughly decent human being.

It waned a bit over the last year or so but he was our smartest spine player post Smith/pre injuries. But even in his good moments these last two seasons his body never looked right and his performances got worse because of it.
I think there will be moments next season where we'll miss him but also other moments where having a fullback who can create something out of nowhere will show how much we don't.
I'm so curious what the club does now to make the team better.

Sua must be the option, upgrade Harry and have a shot at a big name like Tino for 2027 I’d imagine.
Alternatively Munster could still make a switch back there and Wishart could be seen as a 6.
Maybe a free agent like Bula gets picked up potentially, will be interesting to see what way they go, sad day for the club though.

Interesting tidbit in the media release, it states Ryan is “taking some time away from professional sports”.
Must be taking the year off entirely and either going to R360 or potentially the Bears first marquee signing.

I really do wonder just how ruthless the Club has been in driving NAS and Paps to move on from the Club in a manner that we've rarely seen.
If the Club has driven these outcomes, I'm perfectly ok with that bc it shows how serious they are about change to achieve and sustain future success.
Being paralysed by sentiment and accepting future mediocrity would have been the worst outcome.
