I'll tell you something, he has been well below par this year, almost going through the motions. As much as he's been brilliant over the years, 2020 an 2021 have not been vintage years. As Nacho said, he'd be putting a fire under his backside before Kaufusi. And as good as Finucane is, he's hardly what you'd call captain material. You're better off picking from a 6, 7 or 9 as directional playmakers, not guys who spends a lot of time off and on the bench.

JBrom/Dale has seemed to be a pretty successful captaincy though.

Seems the jBrom/Dale captaincy combination has won us a record number of wins in a row.

Anyway; we will see come finals.

You could argue we don’t need any on field captaincy because they are such a well drilled outfit, cos there isn’t a fat lot of it happening on the park.

Dale and Jesse being captain aren’t any part of the the reason we have won 15 straight. They barley do much talking on the field.

We have won 15 straight because of how well Smith, Nicho & Hughes have been combining this year. They are all having a stand out season.

Those three guys are a big reason why we are on such a good run, even without grant, paps and Munster missing quite a few games those three guys are the ones that have stood up and lead the way week in week out.

Sad to see Dale leave the Storm. I remember fist pumping when I found out we had signed him. Ultimate professional.

However, there is no way I would want the Storm to sign him on a four year deal for $600k+ a year.

Thanks for all your efforts with the Storm. Wishing Dale and his family all the best for the future.

I think real leadership shows itself when we're playing from behind. Hasn't been too much of that for us this year. Not sure how confident I feel in our leadership group rallying the troops behind the goal posts after an opposition try - that's something no one could do better than Cam.

Most important for me is decision making at critical times.

Cam was great because he played the percentages every time.

None of this short drop/kick-off rubbish.

No forcing an offload in your own end, when in front and trying to close out a win.

ALWAYS respect field position.

Kick to the corners. Make them work it off their try line. Back your defence.

Know the rules. Remind the ref that you know them. Respectfully question the rough calls so they know they owe you one.

Get the team on the same page.

Daily telegraph reporting that Bellamy has signed with us again. Can't give anymore details as the article is behind a paywall. Before we get carried away , however, it's not mentioned on the clubs website.

Super coach Craig Bellamy is staying at Melbourne Storm for at least one more season, bringing up 20 years as the club’s head coach.

Storm and Bellamy are expected to make a joint announcement on Tuesday, ending 12 months of negotiations over his future after huge offers from the Brisbane Broncos and Cronulla Sharks.

He will remain as head coach for 2022 but then more than likely step aside to take on a role as director of football … and then choose his replacement.

It is understood the deal would be worth around $1.2 million while he remains as head coach but drop to around the $750,000 mark if he steps back into more of a mentoring role.

Only Wayne Bennett, who has 21 straight years at the Broncos between 1988 and 2008, has had a longer stint in the NRL at the one club.

The Bellamy deal is expected to be for at least four years in a massive boost for the club as they prepare for Saturday’s game-of-the-year against the Penrith Panthers.

Personal issues with a serious illness in the family have delayed the decision he had originally hoped to make back in April.

Bellamy rejected the offer from the Brisbane Broncos last year to work above Kevin Walters but only recently knocked back the Sharks.

The club’s chairman Matt Tripp had been in talks with Bellamy’s manager for more than 12 months.

The super coach has remarkably missed the finals only once in 19 years – the season that the Storm were stripped of their competition points in the salary cap scandal.

No footy side in any code in Australian sport has experienced such sustained success.

Bellamy won five grand finals, but only three premierships because of the salary cap scandal.

Many now regard him alongside coach-of-the-century Jack Gibson as the greatest coach in the history of the game.

Only a week ago Bellamy was still giving little away about his future.

“It’s been a tough four to six weeks obviously with the footy, but there have also been a couple of other things as well,” he said.

“I’d certainly miss some of the characters here, but also you can say what you like about them, but they keep turning up every week and do their best. That’s all we’ve ever asked.”

He was determined that the negotiations and speculation would not have a negative effect on the players.

Bellamy’s decision is a huge lift for Storm’s recruitment planning, given they will lose Dale Finucane, Josh Addo-Carr and Nicho Hynes at the end of this season.

They have both fullback Ryan Papenhuyzen and hooker Brandon Smith coming off contract next season. Both are free to talk to rival clubs from November but are now more than likely to stay.

They also have Jesse Bromwich and Nelson Asofa-Solomona off-contract at the end of next year.

The big question is who will step in to coach Storm if Bellamy decides to give it away at the end of next season to become director of football.

The likes of Jason Ryles or even Bellamy’s son Aaron would be serious contenders.
