Looks like the Storm are letting players go, one at a time out of respect. Better than a group.

Really ? No one?

There's obviously moves a plenty that we're not privvy to.

Melbourne Storm centre Justin Olam’s move to Super League gathers pace
CALLUM WALKER 05/10/2023

MELBOURNE STORM centre Justin Olam’s move to Super League is gathering pace as the Papua New Guinea star looks destined for the exit door at the Victoria club.

Melbourne Storm centre Justin Olam’s move to Super League gathers pace

Olam, League Express understands, is attracting great interest from Super League’s Warrington Wolves, who decided against extending Peter Mata’utia’s contract.

Another centre, Greg Minikin, has also left the Cheshire club with just Stefan Ratchford and Connor Wrench occupying the centres for 2024 as we speak.

There is a great deal of noise Down Under that a deal to take Olam to Super League is just around the corner, with the 29-year-old enduring a difficult year in the NRL with Melbourne.

In fact, Olam was down the pecking order such at Melbourne that he made six appearances the club’s feeder team, Sunshine Coast Falcons, in the 2023 Hostplus Cup with the likes of Marion Seve and Young Tonumaipea being favoured on occasions by head coach Craig Bellamy.

However, a major sticking point in a potential move for the 29-year-old is the fact that he is still under contract with the Storm until the end of 2026 – though Melbourne are willing to release Olam if needs be.

Just saw Matt Stimson (brother of Joe and former under 20s player for us I believe) has signed with North Sydney Bears next year. I wonder if there's anything to that

Media reporting Storm and Tigers are holding discussions about a player swap between Olam and Blore. You'd think the Tigers would be looking for some form of financial adjustment as well. Might be a decent outcome …. always looked like Blore played with urgency and passion even if rough around the edges. We totally lacked urgency and passion in the forwards this year.

Made very clear the Storm know they got that Olam extension wrong in 2022 and want a team either in the UK or elsewhere in the NRL to bail them out.

There is a "30 Player Limit" for each NRL Team Roster, whatever that means - the Storm Websit lists 34 players - some are considered "development" players. Rules are rules - I think?

We have a FAT roster and need to purge in order to afford the mid season "buy/transfer".

The CAP must be so tight for the Storm that we are not pursuing an established player. Sua's upgrade adds more weight to this.

2 Players that are subject to scrutiny are Olam (his management don't want him to lose money) and the second is Howard who NEEDS to perform out of his skin to survive 2024.

Player swaps are currently the best way to reduce pressure, players don't reduce their salary but are off our 30 list.

Please excuse my ignorance but who is "Howard"?
