He should be off the field now but is still on at the 45 minute mark

Spot on,he should have been taken off,OK for Meninga to keep him on there, for his own selfish reasons and Billy porbably didn't want to come off either, but he was in a whole world of pain, and as it turns out will miss a lot of football because of it,NO ONE can say for sure if coming of would have made a difference or not,but there are always things called precautionary measures, and with a player like Slater..well you have to take them.Fck state of origin,Melbourne Storm need him.

How is that relevant? No loss at all

In 2008 Jamie Lyon missed 7 weeks at the back end, came back at 5/8th and was a big part of how well manly finished the year - lets hope for something similar.

Occasionally I'd enjoy reminiscing about 08 but I know how raw that wound would be

Again Rose I wasn't talking about Slater's injury I was talking about Thugsick that Glennb inexplicably spoke of in this very thread and his signing with the footballers graveyard aka manly feeder club aka perpetual spooners and whiners

I can`t believe that BILLY might be back for origin 3.. I am being selfish here but I hope he doesn`t play if he isn`t 200% fit.I want him fit for the rest of OUR season.

from another Billy...............................
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
His decision not ours - Good Luck Billy 8)

Of course I wish Billy all the best in whatever he chooses.I just don`t want him to play until he is fully fit.

the problem with that is that billy just loves being out there too much, he'll want to come back as quickly as he possibly can

I think every player does but ultimately the final decision should come down to the coach and medical staff. From what Bellyache was saying he wasn't very confident that Bill would be back for origin even though Bill was hopeful to be. There's a much bigger prize to be had at the end of the year so i'm sure all parties will do their utmost not to put that in jeopardy by rushing him back early.
