When I first read the email I was shocked too and thought that's bullshit if they won't let me in.
But then I thought about it some more and honestly what's the club to do? Do they turn away non-members in anticipation of a big crowd, only to then find half the members don't show? Or do they sell as many tickets as possible and encourage members to arrive early to avoid dissapointment

...I think they're hands are tied, and if this were a reality then I would bite the bullet and upgrade. They should have a dedicated window, near each gate, for member upgrades.
If I rocked up, got turned away and then had to queue up and miss kickoff then I'd be really pissed off.
