Solomona seems to find the try-line easily.

Would love to see him on the end of the NYC backline at some stage this year, probably the quickest player at the club.

Be interesting to see how he would go in the older aged competition.

Storm's SG Ball team Melbourne Storm’s Under-18’s take on Parramatta this Saturday in Round Seven of the SG Ball competition.

Storm are looking to build some momentum in the back half of the season after recording a solid victory over the Western Sydney Academy last weekend.

The Eels were defeated by rivals Manly last week and they will be hungry to turn things around to maintain their position in the top half of the table, however Storm will have gained confidence after their best performance of the season last Saturday.

This should be a very physical and entertaining game with both sides naming huge forward packs for this week’s encounter at Fregon Reserve in Clayton.

The team that is able to dominate the middle channel on Saturday will be favoured to win the game, however both teams possess game-breakers that have the ability to turn a game on its head with one flash of brilliance.

Storm will be looking to reward their home crowd with another improved performance and are looking forward to playing in front of a huge crowd at Fregon Reserve.

Kick-off is 1.30pm, but there is plenty of action beforehand with the VRL Mens and Ladies Gala Day starting at 9.50am. So come down and support your local club and the young Storm stars throughout a whole day of action in Clayton this Saturday.

Thats a good effort by the fellas, FG indicates it was a hard fought game, Eels are always strong at this level.

SG Ball let lead slip
12/04/2011 4:29:29 PM
The Melbourne Storm Under 18’s team lost 36 – 32 in a thrilling match to competition leaders Western Suburbs in Round 8 of the SG Ball competition last Saturday.

After leading by 32-14 the Storm were unable to hold off the fast-finishing Magpies conceding four tries in the last 20 minutes of the match.

Storm started the match with the high-energy and aggression that has become their trademark over the past three weeks. They dominated the first 15 minutes of the match and were rewarded with two quick tries before the Magpies hit back with a try of their own.

Storm started to find easy metres up the centre of the ruck with Steve Liki and Herschel Gideon dominating. This resulted in a third try to Storm before the Magpies scored their second just before half-time.

The early stages of the second half were again dominated by the Storm who piled on three quick tries to lead by 32-14 before the complexion of the game changed.

A couple of mistakes by Storm lead to tries to the Magpies and they never relinquished the momentum, scoring two more tries to take the game 36-32.

Storm has played some outstanding footy over the past month but were unable able to come away with the win on the weekend. With one game remaining it would be great to see this team put together a consistent 70 minutes and show why they have been able to match it with the competition favourites such as Parramatta and the Magpies.

Best players were Herschel Gideon, Steve Liki and Phil Salue.

The final game is this Saturday at Fregon Reserve, Clayton at 1.30pm.

The SG Ball game will conclude a great day of footy at Fregon Reserve with the VRL State Under-15 and Under-18 trials commencing at 8.45am that morning
