...i was watchin to see if security would take the cowbell off storm man... fair's fair... i don't get how the bells could be seen as being dangerous etc. anyone ever heard of someone being assaulted with one? anywhere?
there used to be someone ringing a school bell at OP when Steven Bell was playing as he touched the ball.
There is only one Melbourne Storm
And in Melbourne they will stay

To the Eagle and other newer Storm/Bai Stand Members - the cow bell was introduced by a member who is a member on here - it was introduced so the boys could hear us on the field (too far away from the action on the field) colonial/telstra/etihad/Docklands or whatever they want to call it. This person was the original cow bell person - the bell (a single bell that was introduced for Steve Bell several years later this ceased when he left our club.
Our cowbell is Tradition - when you hear it we automatically know what to do.

We have put a banner up at the last two matches. It reads:
GALLOP + THE NRL = THE REAL CHEATS
I have been asked both times to remove it. Last night however I got rather upset. I was threatened with eviction by a bloke in a suit. I told him that I have been a member since 1998, and pay upwards of $1200 for our seats every year. He didn't care one bit. I was so upset, that I had to be calmed by my mates who were there with me. It was them that took the banner down, not me.
I agree with the person who suggested we all take cowbells. And banners as well. I'm sick of organisations trying to strip our club back to the bare minimum. The NRL did it, and now these idiots are doing it too.
Everyone fight and show the passion that our football club is renound for.

I will be ringing Storm and also complaining to MOPT, When the second bell rang out Security and two cops came and stood directly in front of my to children and myself. I asked them repeatedly to move as we could not see so they finally moved over so the boys could see but all I could see was Hi-vis Yellow!!! Not at all happy, they did more to provoke the crowd than the bell ever bothered anyone!
It's like we're Pavlov's dog - only instead of being trained to salivate when hearing a bell, we shout "Melbourne".leaguekid wrote:Our cowbell is Tradition - when you hear it we automatically know what to do.

Look guys, I do appreciate how you guys are backing us up, but I think that if everyone bought a cowbell it would just make matters worse.
1) It has potential to screw up the great atmosphere that is automatically generated (not just from the cowbells)
2) If too many of them are bought in MOPT may change their rules once more so that strictly no cowbells are allowed
You're more than welcome to risk it, it's not my decision as I love the fact that you're willing to bring cowbells to show them whats what

Wait until next game. I'll give my plastic $2 Swan Street bugles a whirl. They got 55000 going at the Socceroos vs NZ the other night.Freshy wrote: Nows the time for the Vuvuzela!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111

No they won't. Security will pick on the next thing. They were itching to kick us out for "swearing" at the Roosters game & were watching my big flag just waiting for an incident (before the pole snapped in half )simo wrote: Everyone bring cowbells is a stupid idea. We got this great new stadium. There was 1 little error or mix up and everyones up in arms.
Just relax all. Things will be back to normal next week.
Watch me have all sorts of hassles getting it in at the Panthers game.

Could you please tell me why the keep asking you to remove your sign, but the disgussing signs been held up at the Parramatta game were allowed? I bet the answer is the signs at Parramatta where about The Melbourne Storm and their players/coach, not Gallop or the NRL. The is a rule that not insulting banners can be taken into a game. But the did not inforce it at Parramatta, did they. Once again, there seems to be two sets of rules. One for Storm, one for every other club.
On another subject. Why is Ribot at every home game now? Walking arount the ground with other Borad members after the matches. Is he involved again or is he just adding support? Either way I bet the NRL hate it and it is another thing they will hold aganist us.

Jamie, make sure you contact Storm Management ASAP and let them know. This is all such Bullshit. I'd rather us back at the Graveyard rather than all this rubbish. The Cowbells and the Banners are a part of being at a Storm Game. I love seeing the same banners each game.

At the Canberra game there was a banner insulting the storm - I can't remember exactly what it said - it only lasted about five minutes and I never saw it again. It did however get photographed and appeared in the newspaper!
