Half-naked Darren Lockyer rescues girl from car crash

DARREN Lockyer and his Maroons teammates were cooling down at a Brisbane hotel pool following their win over NSW last month when a loud crash was heard on Brisbane's Alice St outside their hotel.

Jumping out of the pool in just his Speedos, Lockyer ran outside to find a hatchback flipped over on to its roof and a distressed young woman trapped inside.

Onlookers say Lockyer, helped by Queensland teammates Cooper Cronk, Sam Thaiday, trainer Tony Spencer and physio Scott Thornton, ran to the car and carefully pulled the woman from the wreckage.

"We just happened to be there when we heard the accident," Lockyer confirmed to Confidential yesterday. "The car had flipped, so we ran out and assisted her and fortunately she was OK."

It's understood the girl, who we hear thanked her knight in glistening Speedos profusely, suffered only minor cuts and bruises.

Its about time the news was positive :
Where is it written that news has to be negative...
The media thinks that shock, horror and bad news sells papers,
but so do good things that people do, so over reading and
hearing about bad stuff - so it was nice to read this
story. I bet the women was shocked when she saw who was
rescuing her... lol... what a kodak moment that would have been.

The reporting on this article was pathetic - the headline and tone of the article paints Lockyer as the sole hero, and the follow-up article a day later did nothing to rectify this completely biased "reporting".  All that assisted should have been praised, not just the glamour boy "Locky".

It's understood the girl, who we hear thanked her knight in glistening Speedos profusely, suffered only minor cuts and bruises.
She suffered a lot more than cuts and bruises, and has undergone several skin graphs and operations on her badly injured fingers and hands.  She also thanked ALL that helped, not just Lockyer.
