Melbourne

1. Billy Slater (Clive Churchill Medallist)
Speed, precision and no brain explosions. The latter meaning he got the better of Jarryd Hayne - at least this time - and the Clive Churchill Medal. 9

2. Steve Turner
Brilliantly defused a Jeff Robson cross-field kick, saving a certain try. Also ran Luke Burt into touch at a crucial juncture. Dependable as always. 6

3. Will Chambers
Kept Krisnan Inu quiet, and stayed pretty quiet himself. The Queensland Reds will hope for a bit more. 5

4. Greg Inglis
The complete rugby league machine bobbed up just when needed - to freakishly score a spectacular try from a bomb and to secure victory with a field goal. 8

5. Dane Nielsen
Limited opportunities as the Eels defence zeroed in on Inglis's side. Solid enough. 5

6. Brett Finch
The blue and gold army's public enemy number one, threw the pass for his side's first try but things got quieter after that. Cronk runs this show. 6

7. Cooper Cronk
Like an MBA-qualified CEO, runs the most efficient rugby league machine in the world. The logistical support behind the superstars. 9

8. Aiden Tolman
One of Melbourne's unsung front-row heroes. Like many before him, does exactly what Craig Bellamy asks - and that is plenty. 7

9. Cam Smith (c)
Makes Cronk's job that much easier. Crafty dummy half running, tireless defence and no coincidence he was not there last year when his side was thrashed 40-0. 8

10. Brett White
A powerful game as he sought to match Fuifui Moimoi. His low centre of gravity proved a constant battering ram. 9

11. Adam Blair
Scored his side's second try backing up Cronk and setup Slater's four-pointer in the second half. One of the Storm's hardest heads in a pack full of them. 7

12. Ryan Hoffman
His wide running caused mayhem early as he sought to make up for lost time, having missed last year's decider. Opened the Storm's account running a nice angle off Finch. 7

13. Dallas Johnson
An early shot from Moimoi ensured another game played with a head knock. A tackling machine as always and vital cog in the Storm front. 8

Interchange:

14. Ryan Hinchcliffe
Smith does not need a second fiddle, so Hinchcliffe's more like third. Has a premiership ring though. 5

15. Jeff Lima
Highly experienced prop who got through plenty of work with 12 runs and 22 tackles. 7

16. Ryan Tandy
Great feel good story as journeyman picks up premiership ring. 6

17. Scott Anderson
One comes off, another goes on. The show never stops for Melbourne's tireless front rowers. 6

Parramatta

1. Jarryd Hayne
The best in the game, but maybe not his best game. Threatened on occasions, as much with his passing game as anything, but his kicking game was way off at times. 7

2. Luke Burt
The veteran turned back the clock with some twinkle-toed kick returns. As always, played above his weight. 8

3. Krisnan Inu
Dropped his first touch and struggled for ball after that. Spectacularly almost got Parramatta a first try when he grabbed a bomb and passed in one action. 5

4. Joel Reddy
Made himself popular by smashing Brett Finch, but came off second best. Opposite number Greg Inglis scored while he was off the field. Scored a good aerial try. 6

5. Eric Grothe
A powerhouse from go to whoa whose carry and second-half try were major factors in keeping the Eels in it for so long. 9

6. Daniel Mortimer
A livewire performance from the diminutive five-eighth, who looked likely to crack the defence, but did not quite manage to. At 20, he will only get better as a result of this. 7

7. Jeff Robson
A tradesman on and off the field but struggled to get the ball into the landscape he wanted with his kicking game. Tried hard, directed traffic and that is all anyone expected. 5

8. Nathan Cayless (c)
On one leg, his workload with the ball was restricted. But the runs he did make were telling, and his courage no doubt inspirational. 6

9. Matthew Keating
A neat operator out of dummy half, his work was efficient. Another for whom 2010 will be his oyster. 6

10. Fuifui Moimoi
The Fuifui express gathered more steam the longer the game went. Scored one of the great front rowers' grand final tries with sheer determination. 9

11. Nathan Hindmarsh
Had made 38 tackles by half-time and 63 by full-time, saved a desperate situation by shoving Cronk in the back and was also on hand to help the refs with their decisions. Does it every week. 9

12. Ben Smith
The effort is always there but his communication breakdown with Jeff Robson to allow Inglis to grab a bomb and score was not grand final stuff. 5

13. Todd Lowrie
Failed to replicate the strong ball-running form he has displayed. Tireless in defence. 5

Interchange:

14. Kevin Kingston
Limited time off the bench for one of the best value buys of the season. 5

15. Feleti Mateo
Brought the crowd to its feet with a great second-half run - and did not off-load. That is a good thing because Grothe scored two plays later. 7

16. Joe Galuvao
The only Eel to have won a comp - still. Made a telling second-half bust, otherwise a workmanlike performance. 6

17. Tim Mannah
Had been on the field for mere seconds before he missed the tackle on Cooper Cronk which led to the Storm's second try. 4
Discuss.

I personally love this comment. How many times did I see Nathan Hindmarsh involved with high tackles, and not once did the whistle blow. So frustrating!!!

I agree with the comments regarding Cooper Cronk. So unlucky not to get the Clive Churchill medal.

I'm sure you would make a fine PM Nacho, but nevertheless, Grothe did not have as good a game as Slater.

Sorry if i'm harsh but I can't even remember if Mortimer was even on field, he was that quiet. If he gets a 7 then Finch deserves far more than 6. I know he's only 20, but you can't put age into ratings!

Personally, I think Dallas should get a knock in the head every time he plays ... it seems to guarantee a great game

Daily Telegraph's ratings this morning had Parra players polling just 0.5 less than the Storm players. Joke.
2012 premiers. Legit.
