i found this on a site:
if you want to read the full story >>>>http://www.theage.com.au/articles/2004/ ... 27018.htmlIt's a very small market that's available to them because the big advertisers wouldn't automatically use a radio station like this," Mr Mitchell said.
John Neal, managing director of media buying firm Carat Australia, said an even bigger stumbling block for SEN was its lack of broadcast rights to provide live commentary on major sports such as AFL, cricket and racing.
"Sure, we can't do the AFL next year, but AFL isn't everything," Mr Staffieri said.
"I don't think you need that much live sport. This isn't just about who won or lost, we want to get behind the stories."

So much for the "all sports", the Jana Pittman interview focused half on her athletics and the other half on her training with AFL players. She did mention training with Melbourne at Olympic Park but from hearing the interview she could easily have been talking about the AFL team. We all know differently but no line of questioning went into Melbourne Storm and Jana didn't bring them up.
I rang them up, phone number is 1300721116, about 6:45pm. The guy that answered the phone said I was the first to call about rugby league and when I got on air I got my question out about Storm interviews and game coverage and never got to say anything after that. Just got told that it's fairly early days, that the Storm have been in "discussions" with them and that the breakfast crew should have RL on. Half an hour segment tomorrow morning?
Ring them up and let them know STORM exist!!!

Oh, and Kirk Reynoldson got a mention, but I think that was only coz he trained with an AFL team or player(s) recently.

As far as I know it is a Melbourne radio station only. I wouldn't recommend ringing the number from outside Melbourne in case you do get charged long distance charges.stormer2004 wrote:couple of questions..the radio station wont go to nsw will it?

I know for a fact that the Melbourne Storm have been in discussions with the management of this station about promotion of the Storm and rugby league. I have sent an email to the Storm media department to find out an email address. I will post the email address once I have it, same as I have done with the phone number.

i emailed BOTH the storm club and sen:
and then this from sen:info@melbournestorm said:At this stage there are no Melbourne radio stations that will be covering the NRL, and in particular the Storm in season 2004. We are continuing to lobby for change in this area but at this time no radio network will be covering Storm games.
Thank you for your ongoing support of the Storm, hopefully we can see this lack of coverage rectified in the not-to-distant future,
Kind Regards
G’DAY NATHAN,
THANKS FOR YOUR EMAIL. WE’RE NOT SURE AS YET, HAVING ONLY JUST STARTED BROADCASTING, BUT STAY TUNED AND WE’LL BE MAKING ANNOUNCEMENTS AS THEY COME TO HAND.
YOURS IN SPORT,
BRUCE

OMG that is the same as my 30 calls to Channel nine to blast them about the finals
DEAR STORMWARING(C), PLEASE LEAVE!!!
THANKS FROM THE AASHOLE OF THE BAI STAND

I've largely given up on Channel Nein, it's pretty damn obvious they don't care about rugby league or Melbourne Storm. One wonders why they even bother to buy the broadcast rights.
But with this radio station it is very new and I am hopeful that we can get some sort of presence happening. I have not yet lost faith that this can be achieved. Although so far I have only made one phone call and sent two emails. I am aiming for my second phone call tonight if they have talkback happening after 9pm.
I thought I might diss Channel Nein's "coverage" of the Cougar World 7's Tournament and ask them which teams qualified for the wildcard positions.

SEN is a new radio station which is in direct competition with Sports 927. And SEN promote themselves as being about all sports.stormer2004 wrote:well you should also give up on sen aswell:
