Hi All, SG Ball Results - Bulldogs 42 Storm 16 - the score at half time was 10 all.

Well done to the boys for getting into the Grand Final

Well storms luck had too run out and it happened in the final the didnt win but created history we should be all very proud of them for getting as far as the did and congratulate them for their achivements

Saturday, 09th May 2009
3rd minute- A mistake by Bulldogs fullback Nathan Massey leads to a try out wide for Melbourne custodian Robbie Kurth. Conversion by Storm 5/8 John Aldridge is successful. Melbourne 6 lead the Bulldogs 0.

7th minute- Melbourne hooker Lucas Grech scoots over the line from dummy half only to drop the ball over the line. From the ensuing set of six Melbourne force a turnover and are again attacking the Bulldogs line. 

13th minute- Back to back penalties have Melbourne on an attacking raid just 5 metres out from the Bulldogs line.

19th minute- Both sides continue to feel each other out with breaks being made but the last pass just missing its mark.

21st minute- Some quick play the balls create an opportunity for Bulldogs 5/8 Aidan Sezer to score untouched under the posts. Try is converted by Ali Hijazi. 6-6.

27th minute- After a penalty kick for touch the Bulldogs defensive line falls asleep and allows Melbourne centre Slade Griffin to power over and score the easiest of tries. Conversion unsuccessful Melbourne 10 lead the Bulldogs 6.

29th minute- Bulldogs interchange forward Lachlan Burr forces a mistake from a Melbourne player which gives the Bulldogs a chance to bounce straight back.

32nd minute- After creating the initial turn over Lachlan Burr is rewarded with a try just minutes out from half time. Conversion unsuccessful. 10-10.

HALF TIME MELBOURNE 10, THE BULLDOGS 10.

38th minute- Barnstorming Melbourne centre Slade Griffin  barges over for his second try. Conversion successful. Melbourne lead 16-10
 
42nd minute- Bulldogs captain Liam Ayoub saves a certain try to his opposite number Matt Currie.

46th minute- Super sub Lachlan Burr crashes over under the posts for his second try. Conversion successful. 16 all.

50th minute- Lachlan Burr scores his hat-trick and the Bulldogs take the lead. Conversion successful. Bulldogs 22 Storm 16.

55th minute- Bulldogs captain Liam Ayoub crosses over in the corner with only 15 minutes remaining. Conversion succesfull from the sideline. Bulldogs 28 Melbourne 16.

62nd minute- Melbourne hooker Lucas Grech is given 10 minutes in the sin bin for a professional foul. Bulldogs convert a penalty goal. Bulldogs 30 lead the Storm 16.

60th minute- Some resolute Bulldogs defence holds Melbourne at bay. The Bulldogs are lifting with every tackle.

65th minute- Bulldogs centre Richard Irwin puts the result beyond doubt with his first try of the match. Conversion successful. Bulldogs 36 lead the Storm 16.

78th- Ali Hijazi rubbs salt into the Storms wound's by crossing over for a late try. He converts and this takes his personal tally to 16 points.

Sounds like they had some real chances in the Final.

not fussed weather win or lose, the boys have done great
but being 10 all at half time , then letting them score 32 points is pretty poor for any team

Take a look at all the results, the young blokes put in a good effort to get there and didn't do too badly when you consider that the Bulldogs were the stand out tear away side for nearly the entire competition.

I'm proud of the team and look forward to seeing some of them in the Under 20's in the coming years.

Getting anywhere near that final would of been an amazing effort. Great effort and a real feel-good story

Geez Dude

The boys didn't have it easy, they don't fly up 2 days before the match and get into any rythm - some of them were up around 4-5am to get to the airport, the bulldogs were only 30 minutes from the ground ... gives them a hell of an advantage....
