Melbourne centre Willie Isa is ... facing a one week suspension for a low-grade grapple tackle because of his 73 carryover points...
No mention of Quinn, although there is this:
Brisbane's Justin Hodges also faces a spell on the sidelines after he was charged with a grade one grapple tackle on Melbourne's Cameron Smith last Friday.

Hodges would ordinarily avoid a suspension with the low grade offence but due to his history and 33 carryover points he will miss one week unless he can successfully beat the charge.
So Tomane should be a certain starter for Isa this week.

im excited.. could very well be a blessing in disguise, now belllamy has no option but to change his approach, i see 3 clear options:

1. Bring in Tomane
2. Bring hinchcliffe on, push cam and gi out wider
3. bring in a lower grader specialist 5/8 like chisolm or maloney and get greg out to the centres.

personally, i like hinchcliffes impact late on in games, dont think he'll be as effective playing 80, but give him atleast 25 mins on the field a game, im a huge fan of tomane and hope he gets his chance at the centre spot, i think chisolm is too raw and maloney just inst up to it, and cant see him playing there long term. this week id love to see:

1. Slater
2. Turner
3. Tomane
4. Chambers
5. Quinn
6. Inglis
7. Cronk
8. Lima
9. Smith
10.Blair
11. Proctor
12. Hoffman
13. Johnson

14. Hinchcliffe
15. Manu
16. Tolman
17. White

and with about 25 to go get hinchy out there, push gi out wide and let cam and hinchy rotate between hooker and 5/8 at will, OR even bring slater up to hooker, push tomane back to fullback gi to the centres and cam to 5/8 and hinchy in the 2nd row?

Are both White and Manu meant to be fit for this week? I hope so.

I'd think Manu might be a chance, White not so sure given how they were talking last week

Melbourne Storm centre Willie Isa in grapple tackle shock citing
By Russell Gould
March 24, 2009

Melbourne winger Anthony Quinn had his report thrown out by the NRL match review panel, but young centre Willie Isa faces a week's suspension after a shock citing for a grapple tackle.

Quinn's collision with Brisbane Bronco Sam Thaiday on Friday night at Suncorp Stadium was cleared but Isa, 20, was charged for unnecessary contact to the head in an incident no one at Storm could recall and could miss Saturday night's clash against North Queensland in Townsville.
Club officials were shocked, as was Isa, when told of the charge, as the coaches' video review of the game picked up nothing.

"This one really caught us by surprise," Storm football manager Frank Ponissi said.

"There was no penalty against Willie and when the coaches did their video review, they would let us know if they thought anything would come up, but they gave it the all clear."

Ponissi requested all video footage of the incident and, after conferring with the coaches and Isa, will decide Tuesday whether to contest the charge.

An early guilty plea won't save Isa from suspension because he has 73 carryover points incurred in the under-20 competition last season before he joined Storm from Penrith.

The charge against Isa compounded a frustrating trip north for Storm, which lost by two points against the Broncos despite a flurry of late-scoring opportunities.

But coach Craig Bellamy is a long way from panicking after the first loss of the season, declaring it the most intense opening to a campaign he can recall.

Bellamy said he was happy his players were able to meet the defensive challenges in the two games despite his attacking racking up only 31 points in total.

"The two games we have played, I can't remember playing the first two rounds of any season where the intensity has been as high," Bellamy said.

"We're averaging 16 points a game and have played St George and Broncos who defend very well.

"We need a couple of things to go more smoothly, but we are not getting too worried yet."

Bellamy said he had not contacted referees boss Robert Finch since speaking out over a controversial decision in the loss to the Broncos.

Finch conceded the whistle-blowers erred by not consulting the video after a Brisbane knock-on was missed in the lead up to the Broncos' only second-half try.

But Bellamy said they should decide one way or the other about using the referral system.

"If there is any doubt I think they should be going to have a look at it. If they're not, well let's cut the video ref out of it," Bellamy said.

STORM'S WILLIE ISA TO PLEAD NOT GUILTY TO CHARGE

Melbourne Storm centre Willie Isa will plead not guilty to a grade one dangerous contact charge at the NRL judiciary tomorrow night.

Isa and Storm General Manager Football Operations, Frank Ponissi, will fly to Sydney tomorrow afternoon to contest the charge.

"We have studied footage of the incident and we will present the best possible case to the panel members tomorrow night,'' Ponissi said.

"We will wait for the outcome of the hearing before we comment further on the actual incident."

Ive spoken about dropping player....but with a new guy like this you dont drop him after 1 poor game...he will be shattered. But with that being said i thought Tomane was always going to get that starting spot...so i would like to see him there aswell.

I think Dane Nielson will also be a chance...

Yeah I agree that is it right for Bellamy to give Isa a few more chances despite my strong belief that he's not the right player for the position

It should be equal....if Hoffman/Cronk/Inglis has a real poor game than they should be dropped also...but that wont happen, obviously.

Quinn has had a thousand bad games and still makes the side...Bellamy obviously has big wraps on Isa and he showed glimpes of what he can do in in the trials.

Im prepared to give him another go...and if he can show progress and improvement on the way then he should keep the spot...but if he doesnt learn from his mistakes and stuffs up than maybe he might not be quite ready for 1st grade (or atleast in our side) and will need another off-season . The only way to get experience with the big boys is to throw them into the deep end.

Great example is Brett Anderson his first game was an absolute shocker and i must admit i called for him to be dropped (or sacked...whatever lol) But he was given another chance and IMHO he did very well when he got the opportunity to play for us again. And i regretted calling for his head because i think he has learnt from that and is a good player...might not be right for our team at the moment but has definitely come a long way.
