Thanks Buzz,

It was a nightmare getting back to town last year, Taxi drivers trying to charge $150 to get back.
Hopefully i will still be there for the 1:00 train ;D

One more thing to add re transport from the stadium back to the city...I've checked round & found that any taxi trying to charge outrageous amounts of money to take people into the city is in massive breach of the code (of course, that's as it should be!)
If you need to grab a cab back, get in first and if the driver trys to give you crap about paying an exorbitant amount take his number and threaten to report him!!
If he still doesn't give in - the Taxi Customer Feedback Management System number is - 1800 648 478.  Not sure if they'd be taking calls at that time of night but you could also leave a message on the Transport Infoline - 131 500.

It may not help you get a cab for a reasonable fare but if it happens that I need a cab and get some bastid trying to extort ludicrous amounts of money out of me I'll get satisfaction by reporting them!  :P
When I want your opinion - I'll give it to you!

Not sure if it makes a difference but will the demand for transport and taxis be less compared to last year?
This year we have a Sydney based team, which mean some of their supporters can drive to the stadium.
As opposed to last year, when both teams had their share of travelling supporters.

There is very little parking at telstra stadium, thats why public transport is included in your grand final ticket.

Okay cheers - for some reason, I always think Telstra Stadium is set up like the old Waverly/ VFL Park.  I keep thinking it's surrounded by heaps of parking.

If its true that Taxis were trying to charge $75-$150 for rides back to the city last year then i challenge everyone who trys to catch a cab to get it on video (eg. video phone) being sure to get the cabbie in the frame and his ID and then tell him he'll be reported for profiteering.  ;-)

To Everyone planning to travel by train into the city after the Novetel function.

In today's Daily Telegraph, Cityrail has the Grand Final Travel schedule and it clearly states the last train from Olympic Park leaves at 12 midnight NOT 1am!

So be prepared to travel by taxi after that time!

Cheers

Which is more trustworthy when it comes to train timetables?  The Daily Terrorgraph or the CityRail website?

It is actually a FULL PAGE advertisement page by CITYRAIL placed in the Daily Telegraph so I would expect that it would be accurate!

Oh OK.  Well, ads often lie to people to get them to leave earlier, in case the last train is full, or to cover over expected cancellations or delays.  The timetable that we saw was pretty conclusive IMHO regardless of what the PR people in their advertising department might think is happening.

Hi all - I spoke to City Rail yesterday and they assured me the last train was at 1am.

As it turns out, it didn't matter what time the last train was, the party was full before (m)any members got there and they were only letting club employees and VIPs with wrist-bands in.

What a disgrace.

I'll be firing off an angry E-mail to the club after I get home tomorrow.  We were treated like f'n children by the hired help at novotel and there was no apology or even an explanation from waldron or anyone else in storm colours to the hundred or two dejected and bloody angry members at the bottom of the stairs.

They tried that same crap last year - We all got in !! Sydney rental security do not have the stomach for angry mexicans  ;-)

I hear the party was short anyhow - the boys came & went with no autographs or chats  ???
