Geyer long-service deal

MATT Geyer is poised to become Melbourne Storm's first 10-year player, with the winger indicating last night he hoped to play on for at least another season.
Geyer, 30, opened preliminary contract discussions last week.
"I definitely want to play on next year," Geyer said.
"Retirement is not on the radar. I still feel I have plenty to contribute and hopefully there will be a spot for me at Melbourne.
"This club has been everything to me and to play 10 years here would be amazing.
"We haven't got too far into the contract stuff, but they know my position. I don't want to go anywhere."
Geyer will play his 200th top-flight game against the Sydney Roosters at Olympic Park on Saturday night.
After playing the first six games of his career alongside high-profile brother Mark at the Western Reds in Perth, Geyer joined Storm in 1998.
He and five-eighth Scott Hill are the only players remaining from Storm's inaugural season.
Geyer holds the club record for most points in a match, most points in a season, most tries for the club and most tries in a match.
"Matty has been a tremendous servant of the club," chief executive Brian Waldron said last night.
"We have had some preliminary talks with him and his manager about what he wants to do next year, and it has all been very positive.
"There's a few things to work through, but obviously if he plays on he would become our first 10-year player, which is a very significant achievement."
Fellow outside backs Steve Turner and Jake Webster are also off contract at the end of the year.
Geyer was named on the wing yesterday for his 200th game, but true to his utility tag, he is likely to be used in a variety of roles by coach Craig Bellamy.
Billy Slater will return from a seven-match suspension against the Roosters but Bellamy said he was undecided how best to use the former Queensland State-of-Origin fullback.
"Billy will definitely be in the 17, but it won't be at fullback. Greg (Inglis) deserves to stay there," Bellamy said.
"That means we either look at other positions for him, or maybe play him off the bench.
"Nathan Friend is in a bit of doubt with his ankle, so we might look to bring Billy off the bench and use Matty Geyer at dummy half of five-eighth for stages of the game."
Storm was forced into one change yesterday, with prop Ian Donnelly accepting a one-match ban for making unnecessary contact with the head and neck of Penrith's Frank Pritchard in Sunday's game.
"I have probably seen worse this year," Bellamy said of Donnelly's tackle.
"But we are better off cutting our losses. He'll miss a week and we'll get on with business."
Brett White will return in the front row.
No wonder he is my favorite Storm player ever

Congratulations to Matt 'Your Town, Your Team' Geyer on his 200th NRL game. He is also set to become the first Storm player to play 200 games for the Storm within the next 2-3 months. I think one of those billboards
