Apologies if this has been posted before.

It's a very interesting read. At first, my blood was boiling and I was thinking who is this joker? But some of it does make sense - except the permanent Sunday games - been there done that cross it off the list! Melbourne is cold on a Saturday night?! WTF?! I've seen some Sydney games played in worse weather - anyone remember the game Canberra played in the snow!!

We had a thread on it when it first came out in the papers. I'm not sure how knowledgeable he is on the Storm's ins and outs but given his lack of research despite being a university lecturer  it's not well done.

He's exactly right.. some times at the melbourne games i feel really nervous or kinda, embarrised because the crowd is so silent, i gaureentee you can hear a pin drop some times. This doesnt include the last two home games, there was more activity, but almost the midd -> late part of the season was pretty ordany. Of course this is proportion to the storms sucess and it would help to have bigger crowds!

The crowd is quiet when there's nothing to cheer about. When we get run over by opposition teams, we're more likely to stay quiet out of sheer frustration than to try and spur them on but if we see a spark or something worth cheering no matter how small, the ground erupts. You can have your theories but that's what happens.

what TS said. Most games this year we have ethier been beat by a good margin or won by a good margin. Its rather futile to cheer and jump and carry on for your team if they are down by 20. Thats not being any less of a supporter its just how it goes. If its a tight close game or we are smashing them thats obviously the time that people really cheer and get in to the game.

When things go bad, we (the fans) tend to shut up. I much prefer that than what I've seen happen with other teams where if they start going bad, the fans turn on them. I also support the Blues and this has happened a lot over the last few years and it's, I don't know, not nice.

Shutting up, while not being very helpful for the team, is a logical reponse to the dissapointment we feel when the players that we love so much are playing bad.

Oh... and as soon as that guy on the PA started mid-way through the year with the 'Come on Storm Fans..' crap I stopped being as vocal, because it gave me the shits and made me want to cringe.

Read the article

He's an arrogant tosser who fits neatly into the ranks of those other tossers,(both north of the border & within the AFL ranks),who continually try to white ant Melbourne Storm & rugby league in Victoria.

If he really wants to go to a stadium where the fans show a distinct lack of interest in the game, he should venture into rugby league's 'heartland' and go to a Broncos match at Suncorp Stadium.

I've noticed it happens a lot in the English Premier League, not meaning to single out one club, but home fans have often booed their side off the pitch both at half time & full time, when their side is playing poorly, eg. Newcastle United in the past 2 or 3 seasons.

I also remember when the Eels and Dragons were going through a rough trot a couple of seaons ago, they seemed to cop a lot of stick from their respective fan bases, but now those two sides are repaying those fans who've stuck by them.
