another interview, this time our stand in CEO

- does not think of himself as troubleshooter, has not seen any trouble to shoot
- Ribot left after lengthy talks, in order to look after his 'burgeoning empire'
- NEWS committed to storm long term
- Stanton definately not permanant
- Said we could expect to see many more promising youngsters in the coming weeks
- believes that if expansion was to occur (to 16 teams) the storm will not be affected
- memberships have increased from last year, and if the walkup crowds are also increased, 2004 has the potential to be a financially successful year

post interview thoughts:

- stanton is a nice enough bloke, very sincere, but definately will not accept a full time role as CEO
- sounds like NEWS is looking for a CEO that knows the local market, maybe even with an afl background

The murmurs have commenced, one heard in the social club was that a former Storm CEO may return to the role.

Thems the rumours. And from what I've heard no-one is denying it, including CJ himself.

If its true, then so much for the reasons why he headed back to Brisbane...

I hope its not true. CJ was great for the club when he was here originally but i think its time to move on and move forward with a new CEO & higher management team.

Just my opinion of course...

I think Johnsy is just as entrenched in his business expolits up here as much as Reebs would have been.

My own view is that the Storm and the sport really needs someone with a good knowledge of the Melbourne market and has a good network already in place with media personalities.

Unfortunately I can't think of anyone that would fit the bill that might be prepared to take this challenge on.

It seems like the Melbourne Storm are headed in the right direction. But they can only do so much, their hands are tied when it comes to TV coverage, media coverage and government funding.

We just need to keep at it until the new TV contract is renegoiated. Get an annual Origin or Test down here as well.

I've been thoroughly impressed with what I've seen from the Storm so far. :D
