Melbourne Storm players will be hosting a comedy afternoon on Sunday August 14th from 2pm to 6pm.

This event will feature a number of comedians, an auction of Storm/NRL/sporting memorabilia, as well as a chance to catch up with and have a drink with your favorite Storm players.

The venue this year is Heat nightclub, located at Crown and the cost for this event is $25. Tickets will be available from this week onwards and can be purchased at the post match social club. Check the Storm website next week for alternative purchase arrangements.

Last I heard there's only one comedian confirmed and that is the guy with the guitar that often performs on the NRL Footy Show. I was told his name but I can't remember it. At last report, Wednesday 6 July, Dave Hughes was looking very likely.

Always a great event! Heat nightclub? How odd.

Anyway I think I'll be allowed to go as long as my arms are tied behind my back and my hands are handcuffed, thus preventing me from buying any more memorabilia! :o

The amount of alcohol I consume may have something to do with my impulse buying too

Crown have been trying to shut Heat down but I think from last reports, Heat had it tied up in the Courts by way of injunctions.

The music is too freakin loud in HEAT, you cant talk to chicks, you just have to dance with them.
Hmmm come to think of it, its better like that.

The change in venue was due to enable more supporters to go. Previous events have had a 300 person limit, with Heat they can get 500.

Also, Boofa was saying that there'd be some internet registration thing set up so you can book online, but no online payment option so you'd have to register, then send them a cheque or money order to finalise the booking.

As of last night Mick Meredith is the only confirmed comedian. They are trying to get Dave Hughes, as I mentioned earlier, and Bruno Lucia (the guy from All Together Now that started the "hey chicky babe" quotes).

Tickets can be bought before the next Storm home game inside the ground near the eastern and western entrances to OP.

This guy is FANTASTIC! In fact I reckon he is better than Hughsey in a live show.

I booked Lucia for a function and he was very funny.

Only problem was he hadn't changed the routine in the past 4 years and I had people coming up to me afterwards saying the choice of entertainment was good but all old stuff they had heard before
