Dennis Scott was brought to Melbourne this season to add steel to a Storm side that had earned a flighty reputation of struggling to win away from home or against big-name teams.
Scott made an immediate impact to the forward pack, coming off the bench in the first two games of this season as the Storm racked up huge wins against Newcastle and St George-Illawarra, but he has been sidelined with a left knee injury since the second-round.
He has just finished a full week of training for the first time since and is likely to return to the line up against the Canberra Raiders tomorrow afternoon.
The 28-year-old, who left last year's premiers Canterbury Bulldogs during the off-season, said the medical staff would wait until after the Storm's training session today to decide on the knee but he was confident he would be ready to take his place.
The Storm has won only one of the past four games, but Scott, was quick to dismiss that the team had lacked the grit and control needed to win big games since he had been sidelined.

"It certainly has nothing to do with me," he said. "It's something I think we've struggled with over the last couple of years . . . just putting in an 80-minute performance. We have little lapses in concentration at crucial stages of the game and they cost us.
"The Bulldogs identified it (as a weakness) with a lot of teams. They were one of the best teams for just hanging in during the tough games. When times were tough, the concentration still had to be there and (the team had to) make minimal errors . . . something the Bulldogs had been really good at and it's something that Melbourne are trying to create."
Second-rowers Jamie Feeney and Peter Robinson could also make their way back into the team tomorrow after injury while captain Robbie Kearns is expected to play despite some shoulder soreness.
Meanwhile, Canberra is likely to start with a rookie halves pairing of 18-year-old Todd Carney and Terry Campese, 20, nephew of former Wallaby great David Campese.
The two will be elevated from Premier League following a reshuffle to the line-up forced by the suspension of skipper Simon Woolford and five-eighth Jason Smith.
