Storm embroiled in sex scandal????

Channel 10's Sports Tonight just made some comment about breaking news of two Melbourne Storm players having allegations made against them?????

More details to come if anything further is said.

Someone on another forum heard it clearer than me, the actual statement is:

Two Melbourne players are under police investigation for sexual assault

Basically the incident is believed to have occurred on the 8th of Feb, but only recently reported. The players allegedly involved were out socialising - not on an official Storm activity (hence why the NRL has not been involved).

No indication of the players, or the incident itself.

It could be interesting to note when the incident was reported to police - possibly after the announcement of investigations into the bulldogs (not saying the allegations were incited or as a result of the dogs scandal).

On SEN just then, Reebs won't be on radio tonight but will release a statement tomorrow.

But he has stated that he is confident that the allegations will not be sustained (I think that was the term used).

I rally hope it is not true as Melbourne do not need this type of thing, but if it is true Storm mangement should deal with the players quick.

One thing of note and that is the two players are said to be fully co-operating with police. It's a bit of a different story with a few of the Bulldog players.

In my experience, you'll find that a complaint has only been made since the Bulldogs incident came to light, and more than likely, dollar signs are now apprearing in some young things head. OR some young fella has found out that his girl 'got it on' with some footy players and she has come up with a story to cover her tracks.

It's unfortunate, but only about 5% of these sorts of claims can be proven.

Nope, according to Reebs the Storm became aware of the allegations on February 14th. The Bulldogs "incident" occurred on February 23rd so there can be no connection in that regards.

Depending on what, if any, evidence is available to colaborate her story then it's unlikely her allegations would be proved as according to Reebs the two players claim to have had consensual sex with her.

I hope that the allegations are totally unfounded coz the last thing I want to think is that any of our great Storm players could do something like that.

I was very disappointed when I heard about this on Ch 7 this morning

There's two sides to every story & I hope the police get to the truth sooner rather than later.

I hope they are proven innocent & we can move on.

The problem in these sort of cases is that there really is no evidence, especially when the guys have confirmed that they had sex with the woman. It then becomes one word against the other, and that is about all it boils down to. The DNA samples prove nothing if they have admitted to sex with the woman, the question then is one of consent.
Barring a taped statement of consent prior to the incedent, this as I said, is one word against the other.
The other problem is that because of this there is always an element of doubt in the minds of some people, so even if the guys are innocent (which I have very little doubt they are... $$$$$$$$$) they will forever be tainted.
