It is up and running. Looks ok too at first glance. I guess i'll see how functional it is over the next couple of weeks

Location: Melbourne - is there any place better ?

It does look good, however, as a MAC user I am having problems with some of the type, banners and pics not loading and I can not read the captions (black type on a dark purple background). Not sure if they are all related to a MAC issue or not at this stage. I will check out how it looks on a PC and find out for sure.

It is a lot better than the previous years and I do hope that it continues to be improved and kept up to date.

Good step in the right direction :)

Talk about taking their time!
They don't get it going until the season is 5 rounds old and they are still using last years pics in the banner.

I was a bit disapppointed: it doesn't look that exciting so far. There's nothing really new, it's just more up to date.

It's nice to see the stats and details on the Squad, though.

I use an iMac and I can't see any problem reading the text. I am getting white text on the purple background and black text on white background. Also all the pics I have seen loaded fine.

StormFront, I'm sorely disappointed in you!! it's Mac, not MAC. Macintosh, not Media Access Control
What browser are you using? I'm on Camino and Firefox and it came up rather ugly but fully functional.

The Good
  • Does not seem to lack functionality, everything seems to be working. <=most important aspect.
  • Love Scooter's Scoops.
  • Injury updates, profiles etc seem complete.
    [/list:u]

    The Bad
    • Sportsflash ticker is broken on Gecko-based browsers (Camino, Firefox, Mozilla)
    • The main area is out of whack in terms of alignment with regards to the above browsers
    • Seems to be coded with IE in mind (web developers, please move away from testing solely with IE if you haven't already)
    • Thinga87 can do a better banner
    • Membership area needs to be reworked to match the main site design.
    • I have a better resolution Melbourne Storm logo. That one they have has had way too many sharpening effect on Photoshop.
      [/list:u]
Overall, it needs minor tweaking but not a bad effort. 7/10 for usability and function. 6/10 for design and compatibility

Last point, does this realy need its own thread when there's already an exact thread started by LR from Monday or something?

*high fives Christabella for using a Mac*

Ah, but this thread is up the top *grin*

I figured out why I don't like it so much: we've had the same basic format ever since we got a website. It's pretty boring, really. We're meant to be an innovative, out there on the edge type club, the punks of the comp who won't sit down and shut up, and we've got a very prim and proper and quite frankly stuffy website. Where's the fun and cutting edge design?

I whipped one up quickly in Paint, that I prefer  Hailstorm thinks it's worth sending to the club...

i like the site...

i like dennis scotts new section....looks better then the old piece of turd....altho someones head is cut off in the banner..lol and if they have kearns and other players writing up messages throughout the year then that would be great. and the news scroller thing is pretty good too...and the players section(profile part) has the coach and also the players to watch

8/10 for me...prolly not completly finished ..but im really happy with it

Dammit, no I didn't realise that. Now I have to try and work out the mail recall function in Lotus Notes...

the player profile could do with a bit of work
and you think in the main banner they could at least have pictures of players in THIS years jersey

It didn't take him long to get involved down there.

 that line is so true, but he doesn't believe me when I say he should drop journo and concentrate on graphic design.
The banner they are using on the site is very amateurish-looking, I have seen many better banners on various forums.
Not only are they old but the pics are shockers, there is way too much blur and whats the the yellow glow around the elbow of the headless fellow?
Thunderstruck wrote:*high fives Christabella for using a Mac*
Haha well if my PC had cable internet like this Mac does I would be using that instead.
I know I miss out on the pretty effects on the Kennel as well as a few other things, I have tried the firefox browser and while it makes moderating easier I still can't see everything I can using a PC.

I agree they could have so much more information if they wanted to. IMO The highlight of the Dogs official site is the the profiles and more specifically the players who that think they are funny by coming up with these sort of replies:

As a kid, which league player did you like watching?
I liked watching Paul Hauff because he was a genius at collecting grubber kicks and turning defence into attack
In your opinion, who’s the best league player ever?
Most players will say Johns or Lewis or Gasnier. But I believe Leo Dynevor is one of the most under-rated players ever to put on a boot.
When he was on fire, no one could beat Roysten Lightning. He was the next best thing that never happened.
