Ref wasn't in line with the play to make a judgement mate. Have a look at the replay, nowhere near Slater.Thunderstruck wrote:touchie made the call but the ref can annull it.

Common now, you didn't think I'd spell properly in that post, did you. I never said that me spelling was good, just that Clark should be gone for decades.

I figured as much, I just couldn't be sure if it was a typo or it was done on purpose.Lord Reynoldson wrote:Common now, you didn't think I'd spell properly in that post, did you. I never said that me spelling was good, just that Clark should be gone for decades.

One thing I don't understand, forgive my knowledge of the rules as I didn't grow up on RL:
A couple of times when Storm were on the 5th tackle Penrith came up with the ball, the player with the ball was taken into touch and Penrith got the ball back.
I admit that I don't know the rule, but it just doesn't make sense to me, shouldn't it be a scrum with the feed to Storm in that situation? Same as if a Penrith player was taken into touch on their 2nd tackle for example.
One problem I have is that I still struggle with some of the rules, such as charge downs and zero tackles, as the refs seem to be inconsistant in their calls.
After Friday night's game I could say the same of the held rule.
Oh, and I nearly threw my can at the ref on Friday night. Fortunately I restrained myself as I was at the pub watching the Fox Sports replay at 11pm.

The time that I recall was that the ref did not think the team was advantaged by the continuous play.
Therefore allowed them to start again and play the ball from the point where the turnover of possession should of taken place.

Yeah that happened right in front of me, the Storm knocked on on the last tackle, Panthers picked it up and he is immeadiately tackled in to touch. No advantage was gained by the first error and being the last tackle a hand over was given rather than a scrum feed.Mike_The_Undertaker wrote:The time that I recall was that the ref did not think the team was advantaged by the continuous play.

As for the held rule I was talking to a friend watching at home and she said that Clarke was always much quicker to call "held" when the Storm had the ball and this stifled your attack by allowing fewer opportunities to offload in tackles.

Isn't being "held" up to the interpretation of the ref of the type of tackle it is? And I bet Clarks interpretation had a lot to do with the homework he done which leads me to question, should the ref's be studying the way teams tend to play? My feeling is the the refs then come into the game with preconceived (sp??) ideas and as in Clarks case, he penalises Storm to the hilt...

I thought i posted here this morning. I think it's generally 3-4 seconds from the when the effective tackle was made before it's called held.

But thats not always the case tho is it? Dominant and non-dominant tackles etc. I could be wrong...Thunderstruck wrote:I thought i posted here this morning. I think it's generally 3-4 seconds from the when the effective tackle was made before it's called held.
