Coach 2027 and beyond
Didn't really want to post this as it's still hard to believe the news on Craig and were making assumptions atm but based to the reaction coming out of the club I think it's safe to say that we'll need a new coach next year.
I'm not sure what I think i just never really been big on hinchy, Aaron or mark as head coaches for some reason. I think I've always kind of preferred the head coach to have a bit more hardness or physical presence about them which sounds odd I know but that's why I was disappointed when we lost ryles.
Am interested to hear everybody's opinions

I think you might be right which is sad and I’m glad you started the post rather then me
I think the possibility of Mark Russell (the 21s now nsw cup) coach is a possibility but in reality I feel like the next storm coach will 100% have storm DNA Someone like Billy Cameron or a Matt King Brett White Blake green or even a Matt Duffie
Billy origin
Cam Currumbin eagles
Matt king rooster
Brett white titans
Blake green cowboys
Duffie Storm sg ball
I always loved Adam O’Brien but what he did to the knights and doing with the dogs atm I’m not sure I want him

I'm sure it's been on everyone's mind and I was waiting for someone else to start the convo too. I commend you for being the brave one to raise it respectfully. For myself it was on my mind the last couple seasons anyway but being repeatedly critical of him was going to be no more popular than being critical of paps and I didn't want to push it any further. There has been some clear favoritism from him toward players which has cost the club. I am starting to think the days of screaming at players is almost done, be firm and direct and throw in an f bomb sure, and maybe a whole team spray once or twice a year, but losing control at blokes every other week is probably not it anymore with kids these days. As much as I love Craig, his time looks up irrespective of health to me, and they all need a new voice and someone willing to make some tougher calls and change things. I think we'd all love to see Craig look after himself and spend as much quality time he has now with family too. He can definitely still be involved with club and game as a consultant etc.
For me there's a clear standout and I truely believe he's the only man who can get an immediate turn around , have us going back in a good direction and talking winning comps again with 5 years. The great B Slater. The game is trending toward a modern progressive coach like benji...and Slater is the best of those. An absolute icon at the club, willing to make very tough calls and be creative which is exactly what we need, and sure to inspire. Would put some much needed excitement back in the joint. Of course we don't know if he's interested but I'm not sure he's not given he still does part time roles with the club, and his comments about the Craig news I think have had some hints in them, and he's made clear hes happy to help at storm in any way. I wander if we see a move once origin is done, his Qld contract is up after this series and possibly he'd of resigned by now if there weren't other intentions? Smith getting involved with Broncs, I do wander if there's been some planning around it all already, Smith to take the Qld role? He's the only other one, but he's the one I feel wouldn't be that keen on a ft role in Melbourne right now. With all due respect to Aaron, is he only there because he's Craigs son? He is part of the problem atm for mine and we need a clean break there also I feel.
We need to move quickly and decisevly atm, I can't empthasise enough what a critical juncture this is in the clubs history and these moments and decisions make or break clubs for decades. For the first time in our history we have significant cap space and the money to spend and players coming off contract and a heap of off contract stars in the NRL from November on. It's a real opportunity to set the roster right again and the coach will be pivotal. Another terrible timing and luck for us with such a time falling with the inflated market and competition from Perth, but in particular PNG and their tax free. I'm very worried we don't have the front executive office to make the correct calls at a time like this also, for me it's the weakest in club history. The ownership group and Tripp are strong but were they looking to sell recently? It did look like they cocked up the lomax thing all the same.

Billy is the number 1 option and would be perfect but I think he'd be crazy to do it long term, it's the kind of job you've got to really want it and let it become your entire life and let's all agree billys living a pretty good one atm.
I also wonder if billy is suited to NRL coaching as he's a bit of an emotional guy and and I think it's perfect for origin but a year round gig may take a toll on him (but let's be honest Id love him to coach haha)
Watching billy talk about Craig today on the sunday footy show was tough and I really hope despite our shocker of a season Craig can take a bit of a step back and really enjoy his coaching and development of our younger guys and hopefully help us get something out of this season

Blake green is another decent shout, been instrumental in cowboys turn around I believe and strongly regarded. A calm head for tough times. I kind of feel like cows are waiting for another string of losses to elevate him into Todd's position though.
Kingy is probably my all time favorite stormer (with crocks, and johnson) but just not sure he is head coach material. Might be just a touch too nice a bloke.

Probably could reach some sort of agreement on line up by rd20.
Paps on pre game pep talks.
I'm awaiting a pm from club admin with an offer any day.

They were talking about him taking over front Trent only a few weeks ago…I’m sure if storm said they were looking all storm DNA coaches would be looked at …plus I’m pretty sure his wife owns yoga studios down here so it would be an easy move lol
