That means the match should be pretty easy for our boys, no experienced Fullback (Hughe or Gidley will probably be thrown into the position) and Buderus is the biggest loss the side could have (apart from Johns). Add in the fact that we have the home advantage along with the fact that Johns hasn't played any footy for a year, and this could be a cake walk for our boys.
Hooray!
Possible Knights line up:
1. Mark Hughes
2. Craig Hall
3. Matt Gidley
4. George Carmont
5. Anthony Quinn
6. Kurt Gidley
7. Andrew Johns (c)
8. Josh Perry
9. Luke Quigley
10. Adam Woolnough
11. Daniel Abraham
12. Steve Simpson
13. Kirk Reynoldson
14. Andrew Price
15. Todd Lowrie
16. Dustin Cooper
17. Steve Witt

Easy game? Hey, with Kirk and Coop's there they are sure to put up a great fight. Seage won't be much of a loss. Buderus, well, I don't think too highly of worthless big ears Bedsy anyway. Newton, that would have hurt them - if they hadn't of signed Kirk Reynoldson, that is. As for johns, he's getting injured earlier and earlier each season now. I give him 15 minutes and 36 seconds of game time before he's carried off of the field with yet another season ending injury and yet another year of failure from the Knights.
Glory, Glory to South Sydney!
Yeah but we always seem to play the Knights early in the season before he gets injured and then every other team gets to play an easier game without him in the Knights line-up. grrrr!!!Lord Reynoldson wrote:As for johns, he's getting injured earlier and earlier each season now. And I don't think the game will be as easy as has been mentioned so far. First games are almost always very competitive even if you're playing the likely wooden spooners. Lets not get ahead of ourselves just yet. Whilst I have high hopes for us this year, the league looks like it will be just as close as recent years, if not closer. Lets see how our form is in the practice games...

Yea I agree This certainly ain't an easy game.
We should win it but.
Big test is going to be our forwards.

The last i heard on Johns is that he has a back problem. So he definately won't be 100% when he plays us, plus he has no match fitness! it will still be a hard game tho with or without him.

johns is saying he is 95% fit....but he will be rusty after not playing a proper game for a long time...he wont play in the trial coming up ethier so by round 1 i expect him to be far from 100%...

I would rather play Donnelly or MacDonald instead of G.Turner, just to add a bit more size to the bench and forward pack. Having said that, it may not matter as I cannot foresee Newcastle being anything more than a bump in the road. Looking forward to seeing Brett White and also Jake Webster!
