Rugby League Week has named their best 17 for the Storm for 2014:
1. Slater
2. Duffie
3. Chambers
4. O'Neill
5. Waqa
6. Hampton
7. Cronk
8. J Bromwich
9. Smith
10. Norrie
11. Hoffman
12. Proctor
13. Hinchcliffe
14. Rose
15. McLean
16. Harris
17. K Bromwich

Not sure about O'Neill at centre would think he is on wing ahead of Duffie and possibly Hunt at centre. Doesn't matter whether it is Hampton or Walker at 6. Not sure Noz is a starting prop anymore perhaps should be McLean. I would think Weston or Moors might get picked on bench ahead of Kenny.

Plus everyone knows Hoffy is 12 and Kev is 11.

I don't think that will be the forward pack but if it Hinch and Norrie start over Mclean and Harris then Craig needs to be fired.

I think Kenny B's end of year form has the bench spot his to lose at the start of the season.

I also expect that to start the season Norrie will start, but by about round 6-7 McLean will have taken over.

Would love to see Tohu start at lock with Hinchy off the bench.

I understand that Hinchcliffe is one of Bellamy's favourites and he wants to reward him with a starting spot but Hinchy is just so well suited off the bench... and Tohu just needs to be out there as long as possible. When coming off the bench, Hinchy's runs and stinging defence seem to have more impact.

Round 1 I'd like to see;

1. Billy Slater
2. Sisa Waqa
3. Will Chambers
4. Hymel Hunt
5. Justin O'Neill
6. Cody Walker
7. Cooper Cronk
8. Jesse Bromwich
9. Cameron Smith
10. Jordan McLean
11. Kevin Proctor
12. Ryan Hoffman
13. Tohu Harris

14. Ryan Hinchcliffe
15. Bryan Norrie
16. George Rose
17. Junior Moors

Mitchell Garbutt and Kenny Bromwich pushing Rose and Moors respectively for their spots.

In all liklihood though, Norrie and Hinchcliffe will start with Tohu and McLean bumped back to the pine. Moors didn't play as many games as I thought he would last year for whatever reason but he looked solid in his limited time and would like to see him get more of a run.

I hope you are wrong Mattpoet we do not need Smith, Hinchy and Griffin in the same team. It will be interesting to see how O'Neill goes at centre if you are correct.

Yep. I can understand why that would be a probable line up based on Bellamy's selections last year (which were baffling at times to be honest), but I hope that is not the case.

Scooter is right RE Smith, Hinchy and Griffin. Also O'Neill proved last year that he is a brilliant winger and mediocre centre. O'Neill needs to stay on the flank and we are quite thin on players that have competent experience at left centre. Big hole to fill this year and was already a weakness in 2013.

Spot on. This is a Bellamy round 1 team. No doubt about it.

I think Griffin will only be picked if he has a blinder pre season in whihc case he deserves to be picked. TBH Hinchy is used exclusively as a BRF now days. i wuold actually like to see Mahe on the bench, he will provide some spark of the bench

Cronk's had minor surgey on his shoulder so he won't be playing any part in the trial games. That could mean Walker at 6 and Hampton at 7 for those games, meaning our trial games this year will have more meaning than they have had for some time.

This is actually good news becasue that willl allow the 2 young guys to really show us what they have....without Cronk they will have to take charge

I don't mind Waqa at centre but we'd be moving our best defensive winger, somewhere we have trouble.

Really I'd like Duffie there but he'd have to fix his defense big time.

2nd choice is Mahe. I think he has so much potential and in this day and age height and leap is crucial for a winger.
