While Sam Thaiday has debunked speculation of a possible move home to North Queensland, Brisbane are no wiser about their offer to Melbourne Storm star Greg Inglis. The Broncos were upset by headlines last week that Inglis's signing could mean losing Thaiday to the Cowboys."I'm not going back home," said Thaiday, seen as the heir apparent to Lockyer's captaincy."My mum and dad are still up there but I don't see myself going to the Cowboys. It's a good club but Brisbane is my first priority."Despite reports the Gold Coast would lodge a better offer with Inglis's manager Allan Gainey on the weekend, Brisbane have had no communication or word on negotiations which have stalled because of more pressing issues facing his NRL club.Brisbane chief executive Bruno Cullen said on Sunday the club would play the waiting game but would not budge on its one and only offer to Inglis."Absolutely nothing has changed," Cullen said of the Inglis situation."We've put an offer to him, it's still the same, it won't change."We're not in negotiations with them at the moment because that's our offer."The delay, if there is a delay, is down there (Melbourne)."We won't get involved in what Greg and his manager, Melbourne and the NRL salary cap auditor have to work out."When all that's done they'll come back to us and say `we accept your offer or we don't accept your offer'."There won't be any other negotiations, either he's coming or he's not."Cullen said the Inglis opportunity "came out of the blue" and the club would not go searching for players if the Inglis deal fell through."We made them an offer, they knocked it back and when the Deloitte report (into the extent of Melbourne rorting) came out, they (Gainey) came back and said: `We're interested again'.Cullen questioned the figures being quoted that Brisbane could cobble together for Inglis, reportedly on more than $600,000 a season with the Storm."When they first contacted us and said Greg Inglis was interested in coming to the Broncos, we weren't in the market for any other player," said Cullen."We were happy to move to 2011 with the players we've got."People talk about us having a pot of gold but we've just signed (upgraded) 13 players."If Greg Inglis rung us this afternoon and said he is not coming, the cue would go in the rack and we wouldn't go out looking for another player."

I am glad someone else mentioned this because I was going to post something similar.storm_man wrote: Interesting watching GI's body language in the post match lap. He seemed to be going through the motions, having photos with kids and families but not smiling, signing autographs almost reluctantly and pretty much looking disinterested. Perhaps that seems harsh, but all I'm eluding to is that it seems like his minds elsewhere right now. In saying that, I hope to god he stays.
He seemed quite involved whilst playing, but during the lap he wasn't the same old GI who usually smiles and is very receptive to the fans....so unlike the old GI.
Does anyone that posts on here, can tell us if he turned up to the social club upstairs last night?
I didn't join up this year and was wondering if the players turned up as in previous years at Vodofone.
A group of us went to a hotel in Richmond (won't name which one) but a lot of the players were there .
You sound quite assured, considering his own manager or coach or infact GI himself dont even know if the storm are releasing him yet.Storm Spirit wrote:No. Unfortunately. Sorry.1999 wrote:

I don't have any inside info or anything like that.....just life experience that suggests to me that where there is smoke...there is fire.1999 wrote:

If Inglis was making phone calls 2 - 3 months ago (allegedly), then I reckon he is already "gone" from Storm.
Coach Bellamy has suggested that if Inglis wants to go, then the club is unlikely to stand in his way.
Time will tell of course.....but I fear the worst.
The only benefit will be that we hopefully retain Manu, Blair and Neilsen

According to Storm insiders the 23-year-old is a "60 per cent" chance of leaving, with competition between the Titans and Broncos likely to help Melbourne with its major problem for next year.Storm is willing to make any deal on Inglis if it has to carry too much money in its salary cap next season. It is hoping the "very serious" interest from the Gold Coast could help alleviate that situation.Inglis has continued to shun interview requests as he struggles with what looms as the biggest decision of his career.Start of sidebar. Skip to end of sidebar.End of sidebar. Return to start of sidebar. He would be happy to move north for family reasons, beyond just fiancee Sally Robinson living and working in Brisbane. But as one Storm source said: "It's not as simple as that", adding that the 23-year-old was legitimately torn.Storm coach Craig Bellamy said he had been trying not to think about the possibility of losing the 2009 world player of the year."It's certainly not easy on anyone and it's something I've tried not to think about too much, to be honest, probably for obvious reasons," Bellamy said."He's been with the Storm for what seems longer than five seasons so if he was (to leave) it would hurt like hell."With so much hinging on whether Inglis stays or goes, Storm officials are working feverishly to get a resolution and they hope it could be wrapped up some time this week.Should he go, the club can immediately make significant offers to other players it wants to keep, including teenage winger Justin O'Neill and centre Dane Nielsen.Rugby union Super 15 franchise Western Force and several other NRL clubs are interested in Nielsen. The 24-year-old, highly sought after following his breakthrough year last season, wants his future sorted within the next fortnight. If Inglis decided to stay at Storm, which remains possible, "everything changes again" according to a club source.

As unbeleivably selfish as it sounds....I could actually live with Inglis going to the Tits IF HE HAS TO GO.
It's the thought of him playing for the Ponies that makes the hurt of GI leaving....ALMOST UNBEARABLE.

How the hell do the Titans have anything to offer? Matt Rogers (200k) is being told he has to look elsewhere because the club cannot afford him yet a player double his salary pops up and wow, the Titans are in the race. Anyone smell a rort?

GI to Tits = distraught but survivable.
GI to Ponies = I would rather stick pins in my eyeballs and razor blades under my fingernails.
GI to The Hobbits = if it has to happen, can he go and play with the hobbits.

Would indicate to me he probably doesnt really want to go, or at least is very conflicted.CooperCronk wrote:I am glad someone else mentioned this because I was going to post something similar.storm_man wrote: Interesting watching GI's body language in the post match lap. Titans throw more gold at Inglis in late bid
CHRIS BARRETT

GOLD Coast Titans are expected to formally enter the race for Greg Inglis's signature tomorrow when the Test centre's agent flies there to discuss an offer believed to be worth up to $100,000 a season more than fellow suitors Brisbane have tabled. Titans chief executive Michael Searle is busily finalising a proposal for Inglis's agent, Allan Gainey, before meeting him tomorrow.
Brisbane had appeared to be in the box seat to lure the 23-year-old superstar should, as would appear increasingly likely, the Melbourne Storm opt to release him from his contract in their efforts to obliterate a $1.325 million salary cap overflow for 2011.
Advertisement: Story continues below However, the Titans' offer is set to be significantly better than the Broncos' deal of about $400,000-a-season plus a car, a figure which includes third-party sponsor payments, including a sum of about $20,000 from the Queensland FOGs (Former Origin Greats).
Importantly, every dollar more they can pay Inglis is cash that will not have to be soaked up the Storm under next year's salary cap, with the NRL insisting that Melbourne be accountable for the difference in his present $660,000-a-year contract and any deal he accepts in joining another club. That factor would logically leave the Titans right in the mix, with the Storm facing the prospect of paying more in the 2011 cap if Inglis joins Brisbane.
Inglis, though, has previously indicated that his first preference is Brisbane, where his fiancee Sally Robinson lives and works. ''I'm pretty confident an offer will be forthcoming. It's just a matter of when or the extent of it,'' Gainey said of the Titans' interest. ''I believe it will be very competitive. I'm heading up there on Tuesday - by the time I get there, I'd say they will have something ready.''
An Inglis release would be negotiated between the Storm's new chief executive Ron Gauci and football manager Frank Ponissi and Gainey. It will not be forthcoming, though, until further talks are held between Melbourne officials and NRL salary cap auditor Ian Schubert, who spent last Friday in Melbourne discussing the Inglis scenario and the Storm's wider plans to get back under the salary cap for next season. Next year, the spending limit for a club will be increased to $4.2 million.
The Broncos will not budge on their offer, although there have been suggestions it could be lifted by cash from the marquee player allowance. Under new salary cap rules for next year, that allowance for each club will be lifted from $150,000 to $300,000. Broncos chief executive Bruno Cullen said yesterday Brisbane were awaiting further developments. ''We've put an offer to him, it's still the same, it won't change,'' Cullen said. ''We're not in negotiations with them at the moment because that's our offer. The delay, if there is a delay, is down there [in Melbourne]. We won't get involved in what Greg and his manager, Melbourne and the NRL salary cap auditor have to work out.
''There won't be any other negotiations…either he's coming or he's not.'' Cullen said the Broncos would not target other players if they missed out on Inglis.

Strange things afoot in the NRL,if you go on the NRL website you will see a report that 3 clubs are in real financial difficulty and have to be bailed out by the NRL so that they will survive next year[glow=red,2,300],and the Titans are one of them[/glow]
