Meanwhile..........
Any prospective NEW members have this STUNNING site to go too.
http://www.melbournestorm.com.au/defaul ... =4&ssec=11

Now THAT is SAD :!:
Oh my God.
The website just gets worse and worse. That is a tragic attempt.
Absolutely pathetic.

I haven't looked at the site for a while, and had assumed that "Hailstorm" was just a crappy newsletter which someone in the office had knocked up (I seem to average getting about 2 in every 5 of them :? ). I was obviously wrong. It seems that the same lack of talent has been applied to http://www.melbournestorm.com.au/ as a whole.

And to think that a few years back, we had the website voted best sports site in Australia.
We must all hang together or, most assuredly, we shall all hang separately

whats wrong with the site? no matter what they do you cna never seem to please some people FFS. i can understand the frustration about memberships but now the bagging of the site...every single year without fail there are a handfull who just seem to whinge about the first thing that comes along. I wonder what else will come in 2006??.....

dont like the coach?

the name "storm" is shit

the goal posts are to lima lima lima duck white!

sheez.

if you want the email ask someone who has it and they will forward it to you. or someone can post them up on the site...no big deal.

Okay, now time for thoughts on the 2006 membership packages.

http://www.melbournestorm.com.au/defaul ... =4&ssec=11

I just had a look and whilst they are very similar to 2005 there are some interesting additions. ie priority access to SoO 3 & Tri-nations (Telstra Dome only) tickets, exclusive chatroom with q&a sessions with players.

Prices have gone up, but only marginally and in 2006 we are getting more than we got in 2005 so I've no complaints there. I love that members get priority access to good seats for SoO3 for more than themselves, would be a good incentive for getting non-member friends/family to attend.

I think the website is a very important issue Kingy. For the amount of money they pay - and some clubs will pay upwards of $100,000 - you'd expect a site that looks good, works good in ALL browsers and has the functions we would like. In 2000 - members had their own login and could view their seating details, membership details and change contact details on line. It's been downhill ever since.

For Melbournians, the website continues to be the best source of constant news from the club. It should actually LOOK professional!

i understand that. I think the site looks good...it is always upto-date, has all the news we want....but honestly does it matter that the box's are slightly to the left on firefox browsers? for me the answer is no. If others want to get hung up on that then fair enough....but it honestly seems that every year there is something new to whinge about.

In the never-ending quest for perfection...

The fact that the site doesn't look the way it should - considering the dollars spent - makes it important! If not for us poor suffering Firefox users who believe in standards, then for the club who has forked out the dosh for an inferior product.

Perhaps it's the AFL mentality. AFL members are actually MEMBERS. That is - as a Carlton member, I get to vote for board members. And these board members decide who runs the club. That's control. That's power. Now we have Storm that have "members" (a.k.a. ticket holders), and that's all "we" have. So one organisation tries to cater for their membership, the other just wants your money. And for Storm, the club has slowly departed from a "for the members" mentality, to the current "for the corporates".

And that is the lament.

mate i can fully understand the stuff about members and that.

Im just talking abut the actual look of the site and how its updated. I look for updated news and i like to know whats going on at my club....if thats there then im happy, for others thats not enough tho. And fair enough..your a member you want a site that looks perfect and everything.....i duno im just sick of people always bagging the club out about stuff.

Looking at your member packages and in response to the website complaints - I want this:
Exclusive access to Members Only Section on website (NEW)
Includes online chat room with players, latest news and Club insights, competitions, special offers and giveaways. (To be launched in 2006).
But I don't see how it's worth $67.
I paid only $13 more than that which gives me a ticket to 13 of the 40 odd games I will be going to next season (thats right 13 for $80, 11 Dogs plus Tigers and Rabbits away games)

Eh I'll think about it, I guess I could put the lanyard, wallet and the rest on ebay ;)

I noticed the comparison to the AFL membership packages and I'm thinking it certainly could have been utilised better in such an AFL mad city and by a CEO that has a background in that code. The Bulldogs have totally reformed their packages based on AFL ones including an extra fee to join the Football Club as a voting member. I'll be interested in seeing how many people took that option.

Hey Kingy, would you like to buy a car where the paint on the left side is brighter than on the right side, or one of the side doors is longer than the others? Or maybe you'd like a notebook computer where the keyboards don't match what you type (eg. type "s" comes out as "p")? ;)

Just saying.
