Is anyone else gobsmacked that Mackinnon (sp?) seemed to have intentionally rolled through that tackle??? I remember some other goose doing the same thing a while back. . Can't remember who. . It also appears he's got a serious injury out of it - I'm stunned!
That was crazy... He tucked his head and essentially speared himself into the ground. Smith made the point to the ref, every time a player dives head first into the ground, are they going to blow a penalty???KingHoweofIsrael wrote:Is anyone else gobsmacked that Mackinnon (sp?) seemed to have intentionally rolled through that tackle??? Feel sorry for McKinnon and hope it isn't a serious long term injury and he's back playing footy soon. Very unfortunate incident with him ducking his head to make the tackle look far worse than what it was. So many DH's online over the tackle and what Smith said. Best to leave it alone though.
Game was scrappy. Something about us that I just don't like and I can't quite put my finger on it. Another win though so 3 from 3 is as good a start as we could've hoped for.
I've decided to create the Ben Hampton fan club. I just love him, I have a massive man crush on him.

the ref didn`t blow a penalty when Ben Hampton ended up in a dangerous position near our try line.Cam was right to question the ref about it after mckinnon`s tackle.if mckinnon wouldn`t have tucked his head in he would`ve landed properly.
giggles is a dirty player with all the face massages he was handing out tonight. Why do knights still select him?
Ben`s tackle was awesome near the end of the game.
We have S.W.A.S and now B.H.FC

Another great game from J.Bromwich, so powerful and great footwork.
George Rose I'm pretty sure didn't get a run until the second half and wasn't on for long either. SMH with this one.
Left hand defense really needs some work because we're getting targeted a fair bit.
Anyway, 3-0 to start the season can't get better than that.

Is that true Mckinnon cant feel his legs? That is truly horrible. Did not look good, his reaction was scary. Hope the bloke pulls through unscathed.
I can't believe George Rose only got nine minutes particularly when Noz went off early with his nose (I know he came back on). He seemed to have lots of energy when he was running around the fence high fiving fans after the game.
Normally I would say Rose may get "dropped" to get some game time. However, Jordan McLean is likely to be suspended so Rose will keep his spot and hopefully get more game time. In terms of McLean he had his hands between McKinnon's legs, the tackle went above horizontal and player got injured (notwithstanding McKinnon moved his head).
Knights have announced that McKinnon has fractured his C4 and C5 vertebrae. That is not good news. All the best to Alex and his family.
Assuming that McLean gets suspended, who replaces him? Garbutt, Weston, Moors or Glasby. I say Garbutt.

After watching the replay a few times. In my opinion the tackle isn't as bad as I remembered and made to look far worse by McKinnon bending his neck to brace himself. It wasn't above the horizontal, McLean had one arm around the right leg the other arm around the waist. We see that every week in the NRL.
If Garbutt's healthy he should be the one who comes in if anyone actually has to come in.

Whether Mckinnon rolled in the tackle which attributed to his injury is regardless. When your partially inverted chances are you are going to continue being flipped. I am assuming he rolled in anticipation of this and was trying to land more on his back. As there were 3 large bodies lifting him this is a fair assumption on his behalf.
To be honest it wasn't the worst tackle we have seen (from a storm player or other) but it just shows how fragile things are in the scheme of things.
I feel for the boys because the book will be thrown at them due to the farcical rulings by match committee members and refs.
On another note I thought Hampton had another cracker of a game, there were a few times he got the ball flat footed and looked like a deer in headlights although he still made awesome first contact in defence and showed his elusiveness in attack.
Jesse was himself and was a machine, I also liked Cams game as it was far more attacking than usual close to the line.
I also thought it was obvious when Mahe failed to run down a knights player late into the match that his future is not out on the wing/center unfortunately.
Has anyone seen Chambers this season? been MIA

Chambers has been quite because 90% of the time we're running our set plays down the right edge. The few touches both he and Hampton got were quite good. Hampton's ball to Chambers to then set up Young for a break down the sideline was beautiful, would love to see more of that as the confidence between them gets better.
If McLean is charged for that I think that would be rough.Scooter wrote:the tackle went above horizontal and player got injured (notwithstanding McKinnon moved his head).
* McKinnon was below waist height when his support leg came off the ground.
* It wasn't a traditional lifting tackle.
* In most tackles you will see a leg raised in an attempt to get the ball runner off their feet.
* He was never past the horizontal in the tackle until he ducked his head/attempted to roll.
* Had he not ducked his head, he lands flat on his chest and stomach.
The unfortunate thing for McLean is the history of the judiciary charging based on injury outcomes rather than offences. Just ask Kade Snowden after the Ray Thompson broken jaw last year. The difference in my opinion, is that Snowden's weak shoulder charge was still an illegal tackle. McLean's wasn't.
I don't think he will be charged. If he is, I would expect the club to challenge it.
